'89 R3500 Crew Cab 2wd to 4wd conversion & beyond

Started out with 2wd TBI350 with SM465 to current 4wd with 454, 700r4, NP241
The crew cab is finally up and running a full strength.

After I got the throttle body back from Holley I had everything all hooked up and doing the initial startup when I noticed I had a ton of fuel leaking on the ground. At first I thought something happened to the fittings at the factory hard lines. Took me a little bit to figure out it was coming from the throttle body. It was back behind an area not accessible without disassembly. I called tech support. He apologized and said they had either forgotten some orings or they got nicked up.

He said that he would send me a shipping label and as soon as he got tracking notification that the throttle body was headed back to Holley he would send me a new throttle body. Yesterday I put the new throttle body on and it's working good. I was going to do some driving and learning today but we ended up getting a few inches of snow. I had to update the firmware on the handheld to match the new ECU. I noticed this sticker on the original throttle body after they repaired it and this new one has the same.

I'm assuming the "rev E1" means its a revised ECU. I did notice going thru the setup wizard there are more options available.

I can't remember if I mentioned it before, but I noticed when I pulled the original failed unit my distributor was loose. So during the setup I had to reset the static timing and this time I made sure to lock down the distributor good n tight.

Be good to be able to drive the crew cab again. And get some trail runs in.

I was thinking the progressive linkage would be nice to try, especially for trail running.

I just ordered one for the shop truck!
I just ordered the fixed linkage. Says it's out of stock so I wonder how long I'll wait.

I'll admit to being ignorant, but I didn't even realize the primary and secondary both open together. Explains why the throttle operates like it does.

Yea, I hate it, it makes it really hard to drive off from stopped. I didn't know they made a progressive linkage for it, so I ordered it as soon as I saw it on this thread (glad I'm subscribed).

I may have sniped the last one though, I didn't get a message about it being out of stock. Sorry.

I agree, and I'd bet future versions will.

What's weird is my old Commander 950 had a progressive linkage, it was very similar to the sniper throttle body (even used the same stupid dodge V10 IACV).

That would be kinda ironic if @r3dd0g just managed to buy the last one before I jumped in there.

It's all good, I used the ebay link @sweetk30 posted so I should have it Friday.

On another note, I drove the crew cab in to work today. I feel like the idle is better than it was before. One thing I never seemed to have was what I'd call a warm-up idle. In other words it didn't idle higher when the motor was ice cold and slowly decrease idle as it warmed. With this new throttle body it behaves like I would expect. The idle was reasonably high on initial start up and then progressively decreased as the motor warmed up.

I'm super excited to try the progressive linkage now.

Do you have the USB cable to reprogram the ECU with? There's some functions you can't do through the hand-held, I'm not sure about the progressive setup.

You can setup the progressive function on the handheld. That EFI System Pro has a write up on it. I am planning to get a cable that will make it easier to connect the computer for more direct access.
