'89 R3500 Crew Cab 2wd to 4wd conversion & beyond

Started out with 2wd TBI350 with SM465 to current 4wd with 454, 700r4, NP241
For the people that like the nerdy math side of things here's why I think the shroud will help.

I have (2) 16" fans which total 402 sq-in area pulling air though the radiator. With the shroud, the fans will pull air through the entire radiator which is 655 sq-in. The fans by themselves were only pulling air across 61% of the radiator.
Not only that but it's pulling it all through the fins, which create a pressure drop vs open airflow. If you are pulling through more area of fins it lessens the pressure drop and allows the fan to flow more air. So you not only get a significant increase in airflow area, but you also get a little increase in airflow at the same time.

I'm glad you mentioned that. I was thinking along similar lines but thought maybe I was making it up.

Overall the fan shroud is working great on our weekend trip. However, the foam rubber seals did not hold up. They ended up getting sucked into the fans due to heat softening the adhesive. All that said, it made a very noticeable improvement. And I didn't lose any highway cooling.

We made my RTI ramp into a trailer so I can take it to the local club's meet and greets. I was interested to see I can't go as far up the ramp with the shorter wheelbase. I'd have to do some searching to see what my old distance actually was because I may actually "score" better even if I'm not traveling as far. Which I think the RTI ramp is an interesting lesson in relativeness. In the end I think it just matters how far up the ramp you can go regardless of wheelbase because that's a measure of how tall of an obstacle you can climb.

Anyway, here's a short video. I was in 2 wheel drive and I had to put the rear locker on to get as far as I could.

Now you get to break new and exciting parts!

How much ?
I need some run around town so I won't wear down my 42's tires.
I'm jealous, those look great. I might be interested in those 40's. I want to see how 40's fit my truck without pulling the trigger on a brand new set.
I'm hoping to get $500. A little less than 50% tread left. They're 5 years old. Obviously they've seen their fair share of rocks. If I had kept them longer I was going to flip them to run the other side out. I had them balanced with 16oz of beads and had no issue running up to 80mph on the interstate. I've been really impressed with the Nitto's which is why I got another set.

Nitto Trail Grapplers are the bomb. I run 37s on the S-10 and the Silverado, I don't even bother balancing them and they run fine at 80, even on the Trail Ready beadlocks.

The daily is going to need tires soon and I'm contemplating doing these or the ridge grapplers.
