'89 R3500 Crew Cab 2wd to 4wd conversion & beyond

Started out with 2wd TBI350 with SM465 to current 4wd with 454, 700r4, NP241
My switch from 40s to 42s was a much larger task than I had expected, hope it's smoother for you
It'll be interesting to see. It was certainly a trick going from 37 to 40. I have since moved the front axle forward and I'm hoping that will help.

I know the rear tires are gonna rub the bed. I'm thinking I might add a zero rate. I'm wondering if there's any advantage to setting up bumpstops just before the tire hits rather than letting the tire rub.

Pushing the axle forward is what really got me, core support was all kinds of in the way.
Sacrificing flex with bumps to fit bigger tires kind of makes it a wash doesn't it?

I am thinking the front of the fenders might need cutting.

I really wanted more diff clearance and some additional belly clearance for breakover so I'm not sacrificing that at least. The front diff really took a pounding on Blanca Peak.

I was thinking I might play around with the air pressure in the air bags. More pressure would lift the rear some as well as limiting up travel. Too much pressure will make the ride quality worse tho.

I didn't have time yesterday day to run the RTI ramp. It'll work better Monday anyway as I can get the wife to drive it up so I can watch from outside.

Did an oil change and noticed I'm missing a trans pan bolt. :dunno:

What happens when you turn passenger with the driver side stuffed? Looks like it's touching already, will there be lots of pressure between the metal and tire when turned?

It's definitely rubbing the front of the inner fender but there's room for that to give/push in.

Well you all will be "happy" to know, I broke the truck in the first 100ft of the first trail this weekend. Trying to pull the Savalanche backwards off a rock and I was thinking I just need to give him a good POP. Ended up being the front driveshaft that got the pop. Busted up the center ball and it's yoke. Luckily @doubletrouble's spare front driveline fits my truck so I could run the rest of the weekend.

Cool pic from the top of Iron Chest.

Nate did up the driveshaft in the Savalanche better than I did mine.
