89 Suburban DD Build (finally a 3/4ton)

they are a 14bolt and 10bolt from a 79 suburban with 4.10s and posi. I have a 2.5" lift but im thinking about using part of it and making a call to ORD for a 3" shackle flip and some other stuff. im planning on running about 33s. As a family we have gottan the kids into skiing and my plan is to make this ski trip hauler. So I dont want it too tall for practicality.

After owning for 14 years since high school I sold my 85 K10 this week. it was so far from its glory days and with three kids I lost interest in using a 2 door truck with bucket seats. What I got out of selling the truck is going into the burb. Not enough for all I want to do but a good start.

Current plans are to go throw the hubs and brakes on these axles so after they are in the burb I know what im starting with.

install the 2.5 front springs and get a 3" ORD shackle flip, some greasable bolts and bushings. For now ill propbably just use the shocks that came with the used lift but I really want ORDs front shock brackets and some bilstiens.

I need to replace or rebuild the tbi unit.
Replace the door jam rubber.
Driver door pins.
Fix the back door latch and lock, its temperamental.

Also need to plan out the roof. it has no factory rack and I need haul skis up there and Id like one of those inclosed boxes. Not sure if I want a factory style rack and mount a box or fab up a full roof rack like PMA has.

Has any of you burb owners had experience with the back door electric lock? I'm planning on getting a remote lock kit and want my back door lock to work

Does it not work now? If the kit is actuating the lock circuit it should lock and unlock the door with the rest.

Nope back door electric lock is not working now and Id like to get it working with the button before I install a remote lock module.

So I cleaned the contacts with a wire brush and I could get the lock to work intermittently. Also seems like I need to replace the bottom latch.uploadfromtaptalk1394411273551.jpguploadfromtaptalk1394411284693.jpg The spring doesnt alwayd return the stiker back. Also the lock mechanism at the handle tends to move down and the button slips off and I have to keep the key turned to unlock. This back door has been a pain since ive owned it but always delt with it.

I took the bottom latch and oiled it up but it still fails.

Ok I feel like babaganoosh here. .. haha no offense Ben =)

So I talked to ORD and they have what I need to finish my used 2.5 lift but im torn with worried these Springs will ride like the rough country I had on the k10. I want the sub comfortable for the family on trips. I really like the idea of going all new on a 3 in lift with ez ride front springs and some 5125 shocks but that would blow what's left budget. ....

How afraid are you of work? Cause if your not afraid, you could always just get it together with your current 2.5s and if you don't like it, swap them out. If your more of a do it once guy, then just get the ez ride springs now.

Even the old Rancho 2.5" lifts I've had rode better than any 4" lift I've owned. Less arch. The springs are damn need flat at ride height. I say go for it...

flat out if your power doors switch wont activate it then neither will the keyless entry. All the remote does is tap into that existing circuit.
