Good thing you have tilt on that....it would be a bitch getting my leg under that wheel.
Good to see you posting again Rene'
Weather break yet for you guys?

We should have the frost break in the next week by the looks of the forecast.

Still rainy, poured this morning, then was windy for a while...but right now it's 58F and I see some blue sky. So, I'm out working on the brown diesel pick-up.

The wheel is fine when the tilt is 'straight', it's even OK one click down, but the bottom setting is useless now.

I have an older dash here too that's the wrong color but in decent shape. I'm going to see if I can make a window for the VIN neatly, dye it brown and run it. The bezel I have is OK, but I can keep an eye out for a better one, I will need to move my headlight switch about 3/4" to run that though. No idea why GM changed the location of that by such a small amount...but they did.

Cool, now you can really steer the ship with that bad boy :thumb:

So if i'm understaning this right, you are going 70s retro in the interior as well as the front clip?

That's the general idea. We'll see what else I can find that fits...I'm kinda keeping an eye out for the early door panels and stuff. Ideally when I'm done it'll look very much like a '76 aside from a few parts I can't change easily.

as always, nice work man :thumb:

I like your idea for it, love the old school stuff.:D

How about full vert?:dunno:

I got a nice 76 GMC grill I would be willing to donate.

My wife has been pretty easy going about my plans, the parts I buy etc...example the 454 I brought home she didn't blink an eye. I mentioned i found a full vert hardtop, doors, windshield frame etc all local and somewhat cheap ($250) and I got an instant "No!"

She really did not like the full vert thing on my '81...

I have this grill from a '74 Jimmy

I also have a '76 front clip in very good shape, minus the hood. Still need to find one of those, and obviously would prefer GM sheetmetal rather than offshore.

how is the rig rene? any newish updates?

Nothing other than Optima frustrations. It's currently holding down my driveway...

We're prepping to sell our house, so I don't want anything torn apart until we're in the next place.

Yeah...long boring story. Thankfully we have a decent amount of equity, and the place is worth more than we paid for it.

No, gonna re-group and rent for a year or so...then see. I still work in this area and don't see any reason to give up what I have accomplished, just to start yet again somewhere else.

Most important for us is to get back to affordable living based on a modest household income. In the ~5 years we've been here our household income has dropped by nearly 35%. Mostly due to my wife having a health issue, and her employer responded to that by laying her off. She hasn't worked in a year now...and despite sending out a gazillion resume's hasn't been able to find another job. Not so easy for a 47 yo female right now.

Anyways, it's not like my mortgage is small...just keeping it current and paying the bills ate up 105% of our income each month. So, now I owe 2 years worth of taxes. That problem can't be put off any longer.
