'90 K5 "Project Sanity" Sold 7/5/2018

knocking em down Rene', looks good, I like the idea of greasing the threads!

Finish up the ball joints...should have this done this weekend.

Box tube rockers...next week and weekend

double checks lights, horn etc.

Find a lazy crooked inspector. :waytogo:

Ran across my old Spicer hubs. Gonna clean em up and swap em in place of the Warn Premiums. I always liked the all steel Spicer design better than the others.

A few pic's of the Spicer's all cleaned up and spread out.

Just fighting to get my U-joint in the one axle shaft assembly. I managed to slightly bend one ear removing the old U-joint, just trying to spread it out again so the U-joint will go in with snap rings...

More boring pics...

My nemesis. I'm only thankful I didn't have to work on this beotch in the middle of east bumfuvk.

Yeah, these were on the slutty side. There aren't a whole lot of places that sell Spicer here, but I wasn't about to go through all that headache and install some off brand crap in there.

Timmy Ho's is always good. On Wednesday I had Deb and Vanessa at that one while Jessica was doing a campus tour and some career/course counselling.

My dial's were like every other one out there...faded. So I grabbed one as a sample and headed to Home Depot. I found "Marigold yellow" in the rustoleum brand and gave them a spritz. The match is not exact, but damn close.

Hopefully we'll see you guys soon...do some drinking and laughing as usual. :waytogo:

Finally We made it to your place! :thumb:

Thought I would update your blazer build for you. :D Good to see you guys again.. was fun! I like what you have done to it. Looks good! :waytogo:

Theres really not much to changing. U-joint..... :haha:

Not pic-worthy, no, but there can be a certain amount of swearing and a prodigious amount of set-up to get the pieces just right.

Or a certain amount of setup coupled with prodigious swearing.

Either way, it's work.

Don't forget when your friend's 3lb hammer breaks as he's whacking the socket you're using to try to dislodge the U joint from the axleshaft that is clamped into a vice.

This results in said 3lb(ish) hammer's head flying between both of your heads close enough you both "feel the wind" and then lands amidst a variety of storage containers and tools on the work bench in such a way as to create maximum damage and mess.

No biggie.

after breaking them on the trail, replacing them in a shop with air tools is a breeze.

I swap mine, trail-style.... :dunno:
Less the mud, but still.

I just use my cordless impact to break the hubs down.
Hand tools for the rest.

I agree tho... Trail swaps are much more work.

I carry an old ball joint press and a cordless impact in my trail bag for u-joints EDIT: but for axle shaft U-joints I just carry complete long and short side shafts.
