'90 K5 "Project Sanity" Sold 7/5/2018

Ran the RPO codes from the glove box today. It appears to have a Gov-Lock (no surprise) and 3.08's.

Oh well, I'll just stick to the 31's I guess.

Hopefully I'm done work and home earlier tomorrow. I hope to get some cleaning done on the inside, and snap a couple of pics.

Well, that kinda sucks.

Does give you impetus to keep it stockish though.

I was pleasantly surprised when mine had 3.73's but then again even with 32's it rev's high. Wish I had gotten the 33's now. Sometimes I wish it had 3.08's or 3.42's but then it wouldn't have done as well towing that trailer from Michigan. Still, 15mpg or so is nothing to sneeze at.

The 3.08's with 33's and a 700r4 would give you top speed around 130 MPH. At least based on Krusty with 3.08's, 33's, and a T350. I have had her up to 115 on the GPS at one point, although I don't think it was the best of ideas. The tires are only rated to 85.:haha:

The downside would be your RPM's would be very low at cruising speeds, probably outside the 700's comfort range.

Are you thinking of a regular coil or a TBI coil? I haven't had a TBI engine since 2002 but your description sounds unfamiliar to me. Might just be me though.
awe crap regular hei coil i put that up for.sorry for the mis informations.glad you got it running without my crappy instructions for the wrong coil rene.:eek1:

On the road again........just can't wait to get on the road again.....

Cool Rene, I'm months away....

It'd be very easy and cheap to do a 3/4 ton swap to get the gears you are wanting.

:haha::haha: Best of luck keeping it simple! It's a sickness I tell ya:D

I have a 60/14 set with 4.56's, disc's, X-over, 1410's, and detroit sitting no more than 20 feet from the Blazer right now. Then there is the NV4500/203/205 hydro clutch, sitting about 20 feet awy in the other direction.

Temptation is a terrible thing. If I had springs and tires sitting here too I'm not sure I could resist. :doah:

LOL!

Got home early enough to snap a bunch of pics.

OK, please bear with me as I'm slowly fixing all my pictures. Photobucket can f off...

When I bought this the core of the truck was solid, it ran pretty good and the interior wasn't horrible, just plain. These pics show what I brought home, pretty it was not but I was damn happy to be in a K5 again. Not much straight, or rust free on this one aside from the doors and hood.

If you're just starting to check this out, be patient I can't fix the whole thread in one drunken night. I hope to have most done this weekend though (11/11/17)

I think you posted a pic twice, and missed the pile of parts....

Are you gonna keep that sweet looking leopard tail hanging from the mirror?
All in all I say you got a pretty good deal. It's low dollar runs and drives, simple to work on and you can wheel it.:thumb: A few patch panels and you will be good to go.:hack::weld::grind: I think your biggest decision is gonna be what color of primer to use.:D

Might grab a quart of white Tremclad, a quart of dark green Tremclad, some mineral spirits to thin and actually spray the repaired areas when I get that far. Cheap = good...

Been there, done that with the flat black primer.

That leopard tail brings the sex d00d...

Cool, we have the same front clip! Always awesome when something is a cheap fix. First thing I check on a TBI engine is the ignition module, second thing I check is the coolant temp thermistor. Those two seem to be the most common failure points...
