'90 K5 "Project Sanity" Sold 7/5/2018

It gets better once you come to terms with being the cool guy with the blue truck...

That has to be a shitty and awesome feeling all at once, Rene. Congrats on being one step closer in knocking that tax bill out and getting it off your shoulders.

The biggest kick in the nuts was I was so focused on my tax debt I let my property tax bill slide. Made big progress on one, at the expense of the other. Tomorrow I will be able to clear my property tax bill, which means I can re-up my mortgage for a quick one year term without issue now. I was actually under the gun time wise with my mortgage coming due on the 18th of this month. Otherwise I would have held out for a few dollars more...

I sold some parts I'd had forever for $1500, then gave $1300 for this 64 GMC. It's super plain, as most of them are. It has a seized 230 cid 6 cylinder, and three on the tree. It's mostly there and pretty solid. There is some rust, but nothing horrible.

I did some horse trading with Russel and ended up with an LQ-9/4L65E/and BW AWD case. I have some ideas and plans...but the rough plan is 500 hp, probably auto trans, shortbox, and lowered approx 4/6" with steel rims. Hoping for a mid 12 second street brawler/cruiser. It only weighs 3400 lbs...

Whatever happened to the 83 6.2 C10???

Jessica learned to drive in that truck, and apparently it has some sentimental value for her so I gave it to her. Now she has a place for it too...so it's in good hands, and it won't get "ruined". It will lose the 6.2 in favor of a 5.3 or 6.0 though.

1. Put a LS 6.2L in it so the badges will still be accurate.

2. Having been without a square body for...jeesh...6 years now...I can just say adulting sucks.

(However...and I have tenative agreement from the wife...my next Silverado’s getting some fun toys. Not doing much to this one since I need a crew cab to fit two car seats.)

two car seats? I'm apparently getting old as I recall you as a pissed off single guy with a Suzuki problem...

Yes adulting sucks, and time does nothing to dull that unfortunately. I forever feel like I'm so terribly behind the curve. Whatever.

I think a 6.0 can be safely bored to end up at 6.2l...so that is possible. Finding any LS that is a car version around here seems near impossible. I don't know where all the wrecked Camaro's go when they die here...but it sure isn't pick and pull.

No HP cars in the yards here, and very rarely a 6.0 LS makes it to the yard. Stuff is harvested long before that point
Big part of why the prices on that stuff is high here

Have to buy a wreck to get one almost

I got over the Suzuki problem a bit before my wife and I started the kid problem. Just had number two. More on Facebook if you’re ever over there.

Adulting...yeah...

The 6.2L’s also come in the max tow Silverado 1500’s since 2007 or so.

6.2L first came in the Escalade and Denali trucks (Yukons and 1500s) in '07-'14 code named the L92.
Silverados got the 6.2 in '09-'13 as an option on only max towing LT or LTZ trucks known as the L9H.

I was pretty happy for you when you found a decent chick, got married etc. Congrats on number two!

As for LS's I can find a dozen 5.3's in our local yard. 6.0's are a little harder, but not impossible. 6.2's...fuggetaboutit. Nothing that new in our yards yet, and the 6.2 powered pick-ups were/are pretty scarce here.

For the 83 for my daughter a tuned 5.3 will be more than enough power, and it's the easiest to find...so that's likely what it'll get.

Thanks man. I appreciate the compliment from guys like you who’ve seen me at my worst. It’s been a pretty amazing turn around.

Anyway...back to trucks...

I don’t complain about my 5.3L. 15ish mpg with me going 85 for 40 miles down the freeway 3-4 days a week and enough power to walk anything but muscle cars and sports cars.
