'90 K5 - The Nevada Blazer [Post 1437: School me on alternators)

Well, I decided to procrastinate a touch more and got the grille all painted. So, it just needs to be reinstalled which *might* happen tonight, but it'll be dark, so probably not. Looks nice tho! :) Feeling pretty good about it.

What exactly did you do with the grille? Kinda hard to tell in that pic.

Last summer I repainted mine with a satin black. Taped over the chrome bits and shot all the rest with rattle can. Doesn't look half bad and actually made the chrome seem a bit nicer.

You will gain a little length from the 1 tons so you might be fine on the shaft length until you get a sye

In the picture you see, I was comparing the painted bezel with the unpainted grille. I ended up painting it and got it installed tonight. Looks so much nicer! I used a plastic specific black that I had on hand. :) You're right about the chrome!

How do you mean?

I am could be completely off here but if I remember right the yoke on a 14ff is farther from the center line of the axle then the yoke on a 10/12 bolt. In other words closer to the transfer case then the 1/2 ton stuff. It has been a long time since I threw my 14 bolt in but I am pretty sure thats right. Kinda makes sense, I doubt it is a more then an inch or two but it should help:dunno:

Thanks. The grille was really spotty and faded. Under the driver's headlights it was nearly white. Glad to have it a consistent color again. :)

Yeah, really made my chrome pop out. You almost can't see all the spots and nicks now...

Hey Colby, i have an 8" lift on my suburban with a 14 bolt and did not have to lengthen the front or rear drive lines. You should be ok with your 5". i also have the 700 with a 241. i have the green and black rhino lined sub from Medford. P.S. the new blazer is looking nice.:thumb:

Good to know, Ben. Thanks for the compliments, too. :)

Today's been a rough day of soul-searching. So, Claire and I loaded up in the truck to go watch the sun set from the top of a nearby mini-mountain called Peavine. From afar it is sort of plain desert looking, but it's actually pretty stunning up close - which really is the way I'm finding most desert mountains to be.

Unfortunately, we've lost our battery charger for our camera, so this is all via my wife's cell phone. :doah: But, lovely nonetheless.

The drive helped sort out some issues, but still have lots to think about....

Beautiful shots man.

Big things on the mind? Anything you want to share?

I might share more at some point, but essentially I'm questioning the direction we're going with our life.

Gotcha. Real life sucks some times.

We got your back man.

Going to be a hundred percent honest I think way to few people actually think about this. It is good to question yourself every now and again.

Also I agree with the desert mountains. I love the desert. I love to visit the forest and its close enough to me to do it often. But I love the wide open desert expanses

Life is a two way street... it`s always good to talk thinks out and share your feelings, both of you need to be happy.

Good luck!!:thumb:

The pics are sweet!:waytogo:
My phone don`t take pictures like that.

Peavine is nice but my old stomping grounds were the hills in east Sparks off of Vista Blvd. It's all housing and a golf course now, but there was some awesome offroading to be done back in the day. I used to go to the top of this hill behind the hospital and just chill out for a while with a couple of pepsi's and watch the night lights when I was feeling stressed.

Always charged my battery.
