91 Awd S10

Well killed the transmission last week on a launch, flared on the 1-2 shift and wasn’t right after that. Didn’t expect a stock trans with a shift kit to live forever, but a few months woulda been nice lol. I got the trans pulled and the converter sent back to ptc, probably order a built trans from extreme automatics later this week. Got the turbo swapped out for the new one today, so should be ready to make big power when it gets back on the road.

Well ordered a built 4l80e that was rated for 1300hp. Got home on a Monday and picked it up from my buddies shop, had it on the road by Tuesday at lunch. Drove it around the rest of the day, made it home that evening and swapped out the wastegate springs. Started it up to test and springs and the power steering pump mysteriously died. Picked one up first thing Wednesday morning, had it installed and on the trailer headed to the track by noon. First pass red lit and stayed still a second, second pass was a decent launch with some wheelspin. Was going great till the built 80e blew the converter seal out past the 1/8 mile.

Pretty aggravated with the truck right now.. It def exceeded my expectations though, ran a 10.5@131 with. 1.6 sixty ft. That was on gate pressure (11.5lb), still got another 8lb to turn it up once I get the bugs sorted out. O and some stickier tires, doesn’t look like I’m going to reach my goal of 9s on 17” nitto drag radials.

still a solid pass with the limited amount of track time you've had with it.
I agree, I've launched in many times on the street but it's nothing like the track. I think with 15" mickeys or hoosiers I can get it down in the 10.3 range on 11.5lb.

Front axles only see 35% of the total power, so even at 600whp they only see 210whp. Also with it lowered, the axles are closer to horizontal then they where on the stock 4x4 trucks. Only issue people run into is the high speeds causing the cv boot to balloon and burst. I plan on hitting these oriellys lifetime warranty axles with +800whp eventually lol

Bad azz ride dude! I have a N/A small block LUV truck, but I'm sure you would smoke me in a race...

How does the steering feel under a full boost run? does it pull the truck around like a front wheel drive car can sometimes?

If you break a half shaft or C/V up front during a run will it turn you into the wall?

sorry for all the questions, but I have always wondered how a truck like yours would feel from the seat..are you running a transbrake?

I love the old luv trucks, learned how to drive a standard in a 78 long bed luv!!

Doesn’t torque steer if that’s what your asking. I do run nitto drag radials though, I honestly don’t think the front tires have ever spun. In theory if it breaks a front axle it should go straight with the helical front diff (similar to a tru trac). They have a video of one breaking an axle that had a power trax locker in the front and it almost put it in the wall.

Few things have changed since the last update. After 5k very hard miles the Sbe 6.0 decided to spin a bearing, prob my fault though because I didn’t check clearances lol. Had a local buddy build me a ls2 with the new summit racing rods and pistons.

Went to the track a few weeks ago before it got crazy hot and managed a 6.3@109 on 10lb, turned it up a good bit after that but could never get a clean launch.
