I haven't touched it yet, I'll be working on it Sunday and Monday. It wont be an all motor weekend though because I've got several things I need to get done under the hood while I'm there. I'll be gone most of Saturday but you're welcome to come by either Sun or Mon after about 9~10am. TARussell will be over Monday so you'll meet him if you come by then.

Nothing on the axle. By the time the machine shop finally trimmed the ring gear they were also wanting motor parts so I put the axle together to make the truck stable when I pulled the old motor. Once it's running again I'll tear the axle down again for the new gears.

I think TARussell was at the buffalo wild wings set and greet. Not sure but I think I remember him having a red blazer? Maybe not. Idk. Anyway, Ill probably be around Sunday and Monday unless some other marching orders firm up. I'll call before I leave just to make sure your plans havent changed.

Eta: is there anything tools wise you need to finish up either motor or axle? Have an inch lb torque wrench if ya need it

I appreciate it but I'm good for tools, just need more time.

You're right about Tom, he had a red K5 but it finally died. Right now he's got a really nice mid 90's Land Cruiser but we'll get another wheeler soon.

Holler whenever you're ready to come over. :thumb:

Why, why, why must we still use screen names?:doah: I think all of us here in the SE know that TARussel is Tom, nverenuf is John, BulldogK5 is me, 86chevred1tun is Jonathan, t89blazer is Tim, oldtoyboyd is Daniel, etc.:whistle::whistle:

Anybody seen or heard from the Yeti lately?

Come on ward!!! I'm Travis!!! I think you're confusing me with colsanders, I think his real nw is Justin. :doah: that's we use screen names. :thumb:

Come on man I'm one of the few that have actually driven your rig lol!:haha::doah:

Where are the pictures of the new engine? It ought to be in and running by now, right? :D

Well, plans were to get it done Memorial Day weekend but my dad was real sick so I was with him most of the time. I'm going to try and get some work done this weekend so I can maybe have it ready to go in the weekend of the 23rd.

I hope your dad is doing better. Hopefully fathers day weekend I can put the 39.5's on my truck. Now I need to put the grill back in it from mounting a power steering cooler, bolt the front bumper back on it, and swap out the door locks and ignition cylinder.

Thanks, my dad is doing a lot better but he refuses to accept he has COPD - 50 yrs of smoking is beginning to take it's toll. He gets around fine, plays a lot of golf and is pretty healthy but Mem. Day weekend he over exerted himself and then spent a few days in the hospital... for the first time I actually "saw" him as 70 yrs old. He'll be ok if he'll just fricking admit and want to quit smoking, only time will tell. :doah:

I'm trying to get my hydro assit stuff prep'd as well, I'll finish tapping the box this weekend. I wont install the ram and cooler until after the motor is running, I don't want to be working out motor AND hydro assist bugs at the same time.

Trimmed the ring gear? For the front?

Yeah, I had them trim about 3/16" off of it. That amount basically just took the outer point off of the teeth, I'm hoping that cuts down on grinding the housing a lot. I'll post a pick of the ring tomorrow.

It will be interesting to see how it fits

It should cut down on the grinding a lot, although I didn't grind on my housing for more than an hour with a flapper wheel, definitely can't complain

Yeah, that was something that Carl J stressed when I ordered my kit from him, no 2 housings are the same - some need a lot of grinding and some may not need hardly any.

Did you figure out what tie rod you have? 1.5"? Does the tie rod clear the cover ok when turning? I've still got to buy a cover somewhere but I'm worried about clearing the tie rod.

Well here's a(nother) non update, update...

June was a crazy busy month for us so this weekend was the first time I've really touched the truck since before Memorial Day.

Way back, I tore the 60 down and sold some parts while the motor was out so I wanted o reassemble it enough to put tires on it (it was on jack stands and too high for the motor hoist). I spent the day cleaning and installing the new bearing hubs so I wanted to see it with all for 4 tires on -

These were so sweet, I had to stop for a pic. :pimp:

The motor is pretty much done, just have some wiring to finish once it's in and a few other minor details. I plan to install it next weekend.

A complete big block and its back on 4 wheels, now thats progress!

Not a lot of progress, the motor is in and I'm still working on the wiring and gauges. What's taking so long and most of what I'm screwing with now is just cleaning up sloppy loose ends that I left the last time.

I got a couple of hours in today on the gauges between one kids soccer game and getting ready for the others horse show tomorrow. :doah:

I chopped up the factory cluster and punched bigger holes in the bezel (and managed to booger up the face when the holes saw jumped :surepal: ).
