91 K5 -Procrastination Build - bikini top!

So I got some new to me O.T.T. arms that needed to be drilled and tapered. I initially copied the hole pattern from my NWF arm but that left to holes too close together (I didn't realize the NWF arms were offset slightly side to side).

Anyway, here's the bad and the good -

A HUGE THANKS to Kert @ DIY4X for a perfect fix.

bump.....cause I know it left its garage....

AHHHH!!!! Why are you putting all this pressure on me?!?!?!!!! :D

Not much to report, it is running and actually drives really nice. Still need to mod crossmembers and build a front shaft but I'll probably wait for the Christmas spending spree to end first. I did install a trickle charger behind the grille so no more dead battery from sitting.

What about you Cody? Is yours dd'ing yet? How about that new shop? :D

Oh I did find a small adjustment on the soft top so it's a wee bit tighter but not much. Hopefully it's enough to keep it from acting like a parachute again. :doah: mine doesn't have any provisions for straps to help tie it on.

did anything happen to the soft top frame after it flopped?

Christie drove it last week to work but it had a flat yesterday so she took the truck. I have to fix the gas gauge for her soon tho, she has no sense of adventure:doah:

I got REAL LUCKY and didn't do any damage to the frame. I wish I could pull another inch of slack out of it but I'd have to cut the bed rail pieces to do it so I'm going to see how it works first.

My wife has been talking about how much nicer it would be if I bedliner the interior. :eek1: :woot:

I'll definitely be careful. I had one in my old crew cab that was all chalky looking and would rub off on you, hated it.

Non truck update....

I spent some time this weekend redecking my trailer, it's almost 8 yrs old and is showing it's age. A new deck this weekend, tires after Christmas and maybe an LED light kit too. Of course, at some point I'll repack the bearings and check the brakes as well.

Looking good. Gonna power wash mine next spring then put that rustoleum restore on it.

That looks great! Did you use Cedar?

Ours is rotting out too...they used crap wood.

No, I thought about getting some "fancy" wood but I went with pine. I figured since the original wood lasted about 7+ yrs it would be ok again. I also lucked out because it used to be parked in a field but now it's going under a boat cover since my father sold their boat.

I thought about sandblasting and painting it but it's still in really good shape with only minor surface rust.

Fwiw all the hardware came out without any real issues which was nice (I was expecting screws to break off, etc but none did). I went to Fastenal and bought the same style torx screws that were in it (black phosphate and oil coated), 5/16" x 2.5" part # 1132539.

Morris Mtn is a 4.5 hr trip, I ain't squeezing my fat ass that bumping thing for that long. LOL
