Here are some pictures of my 1991 K5. I got this early summer. It is my 4th one. All of them have been TBI. I swapped in a 454 and kept the TBI. The 454 is 9.5 to 1 JE pistons and ported oval port heads. The first 454 tossed 2 pistons on the dyno but made almost 500 hp. So.... the Speed Pro pistons were switched for forged and I switched to a roller cam. I did not dyno it but it runs real strong. The TBI is a ported BB unit and I had a custom chip burned. The trans is a 700R4 from Monster. The axles are out of an 86 3/4 ton and have 4.10 gears. It has an all spring 2" lift. I am now starting to fix the floors.

overhead console dyed using the color bond from LMC. It seems to work good.

front end. I like the coated headers but had to weld around the gasket surface and surface grind it flat to get a seal on the oval port heads.

Yep! I dont understand the rust. The outside and the frame has no rust but the inside behind the doors is wasted.

It's because it is open on the underside so everything gets up there and either gets caught or never gets washed out the good. That is why everyone says they rust from the inside out. Even mine had one spot on the passenger side that was starting to rust when the body work was done.

My outer rockers and the cab supports seem real solid but have surface rust. I was thinking of buying a sandblaster from Tractor Supply and blasting those areas. Should I sandblast them bare or use eastwoods rust converter? I used the converter on the axles and it seems to work good.

That blaze is badass.! :waytogo:

I would never of guessed there would be that much cancer in that nice rig. :dunno:

same here. I just sunk a toilet load of cash into it making the driveline new. I got those seats cheap and discovered the mess when I started putting them in. :doah:

Ehh its just rust, cut it, put new in. Good to go. Much scarier to look at than it really is.

I started cutting the floors out today. I am using a plasma cutter. Do I need to reinforce the body when I am working on the floors. The braces are solid and will stay in place.

Here are some update pictures.

this is as far as I got today. I am waiting for the rockers to show up so I can start fitting metal.

inner rocker near the rear cab support. I hope I can sandblast it and use eastwoods rust treatment.

Another reason is most toppers leak, even if they have never been off. The interior panels do a great job hiding the water running down the inside of bedsides just above that area, it sits there wet in the insulation under the carpet, and you will never know it because it's completely hidden... After I removed my interior, you could actually watch the water drip in, my topper seals were shot, so I just went ahead and put a softtopper on. Problem solved!
