yellowK20 submitted a new Build:

91 V1500 Suburban ALASKAN EXPO RIG

I guess I dont have a Build thread for this thing yet so hear goes.

I bought this truck from a dealers lot with a "Bad engine" for 1000.00 it had a set of 33" BFG all terrains in the back when I picked it up which I sold that night on Craigslist for 600.00

The truck sat for about a year with out having anything done to it, then one day I grabbed some batteries from Wal-mart and tossed them in and gave it a try Starter was ****ed bendix was trashed!!

I left for New Mexico that night and while I was there I grabbed a spare 6.5 starter I had down there and brought it back with me in my carry on bag :eek1:

Pulled the truck into my buddys shop and and pulled the old starter out in pieces ( of course there was no starter brace :doah:) some one had broke the stock bolts from not installing the starter brace and had drilled out and tapped the block for larger bolts ,and in turn drilled out the starter nose cone to clear the larger bolts. ( which the bendix hung up on and destroyed the bendix and part of the flexplate )

So I drilled out my new nose cone to accept the larger bolts and then chucked up the bolts in the lathe and turned down the shanks to clear the bendix :woot::woot:

Bolted on the starter ( with the brace ) and fired it up!!! ran like a sewing machine!!!!! Topped of the fluids and ripped off the running boards and drove it home

Didn't replace the Flex plate when I did the trans......... :doah: So had to pull it about a month later , while it was on the lift we figured since I had all the stuff why not do a 1-ton swap???

So we did :thumb:

While we were doing the 1-ton swap we found a quite a bit of hidden cancer :frown1:

But I have a perfect rust free 90 2wd Suburban body to swap at a later date

I picked up a 79 K20 with a 400 Th400/NP203 10-bolt/14-bolt for 250.00 bucks that came with a 7.5ft Western Pro-Plow :waytogo: Im keeping the 400 small block for a future 377 de-stroker build. The TH400/Np203 is going to my buddy for a doubler project on his 89 GMC K3500 SAS project.

Anyways the plow is getting fixed up and then put on the burb as its no longer on DD status since I got the Dodge.

After the Plow, and Body swap it'll get either an NV4500 or 4L80E and a banks turbo

Highlighted mainly so we don't keep thinking we are like normal people :haha:

I'm glad we didn't trade, this thing had lots of hidden rust under a bunch of Bondo I'd have felt really bad.

Well, Plans have changed. Patty is DD'ing the burb again because she sold her little IFS truck. But her new DD will be done in a couple months and , then the this burb will be getting a make over .

A-bomb with 4" 56" springs in front ,63" springs inboarded out back,Crossover with hydro assist, 46" Mickey Thompson Baja Claws,

Nice double post you senile cockbag. Burb will look awesome on 46's.

I want to re-do the CUCV suspension the same way. I think I'm good without hydro assist though, I don't usually have any issues turning. MOAR FLEX.
