'93 Blazer build thread

a little urban wheeling in front of my neighbors house:D

Ahh yeah!!! Now get those new rims on their that ive been waiting to see and ill be a happy camper:thumb:.

PS I love the white and black color scheme, even if it is gonna get way dirty wheeling, it just looks so sick:waytogo:

thanks dude! i can't wait to get them mounted up too i think it's going to pull the whole thing together

and i knew also that they're gonna get ****ed up eventually so if you noticed i didn't go crazy with masking off the wheels, just stuffed some newspaper in there and called it good

and finally got the stauns, wheels, and tires mounted up today, apologies for the night pic, literally just got them done

after reading some of the "went through hell" stories of people getting these things mounted it makes me
think the only task easy for them is flipping on a light switch. I made sure to use plenty of baby powder to keep
the rubber from binding up and there's really no way to get the tubes twisted in there unless you're trying to do so
a little common sense goes a long way here

the process really wasn't very difficult probably because i made it a lot easier on myself by going to a small local tire shop
and having them machine mount the first bead then i drove back home and got the beadlocks in the rims, then simply
went back to the tire shop to have the second bead mounted up and all was righteous in the world of my wheels/tires:pimp:

3 trips to the tire shop and having them fully dismount 6 tires, then fully mount 4 tires was only $140, a small price for all the
cursing and fighting i would've had to do to manually mount the bead and i would've had to buy large tire irons or spoons as well

in the pic all tires are 8-9psi, but the fronts are the 6ply and the rears are 10ply plus add the weight of the motor up front
and that's probably why the fronts deformed more so i'll either run the 10plys up front or just less pressure in them

in a great way though:D
my custom driveshaft was waiting for me when I got home from work, woohoo!

this thing is sweet too, I don't know the rules on promoting non-vendors here so I won't mention their name
outright but a simple search on eBay should bring them up quickly

anyway it's balanced, all 1350 with all Spicer joints, and the components such as the slip, the CV head, and
tubing are very beefy. It has a full 7" of spline on the slip too not just at the end like factory stuff and at
$350 shipped I'd say it's an awesome deal. Even came painted.:waytogo:

I think its a bit smoother but still no Cadillac the unbalanced bias tires refuse to smooth out, which is to be expected I guess, but now I have peace of mind that the shaft isn't running eccentric anymore due to my less than straight extension job so i'm sure the u joints are much happier, not to mention the strength increase from 1310 or 30s up to the 1350s.

I drive it all around town right now, its registered, smogged, and insured. I wanted to be able to have the option of street driving and not necessarily need to tow it, but for long distance I most likely will borrow a trailer. Its just a blast to drive though really.

Could you just find some better road tires for drivin around and switch back when you know your gonna go wheeling? Or too much $$$ and time??

Yeah I wouldn't mind some used radials for streeting, but money is the main issue, anything cheap in the used 40" radial area is usually super bald and anything with tread is still out of my price range. I've collected 7 still decent 39.5 TSLs for $350 by selling back rims I didnt want but came with the tires.

Gotcha. Yah I bet those would be some expensive radials lol. Could you do the air soft bb balancing trick with yours??

I might try the airsoft bb trick as im just curious to see if it really works or not, it may be a little difficult now for me tho with the stauns in there, I should just see if a tire shop can try to balance them with the normal rim weights. I really wish now id kept those radial baja claws I had in the older pics, I got those suuuuper cheap and they were balanced and 40s but I was strapped for cash at the time.

Darn. Im sure theirs a way to get yours balanced though if you look around.

The BB's work. Done it myself but they can only do so much with a heavy, out of round tire. Not sure how they'd play with the Stauns though.

That's what im not sure of either if when I air down would they get trapped between the tire n beadlock as the tire flexes and deforms

Yeah...I'd bet the answer, at least on Staun's part, would be DO NOT DO IT.

got the spare tire carrier mostly finished up today still going to add a few more gussets or supports but I'm really happy with how it turned out

for the mounting plate, I used some leftover diamond plate and reinforced the back of it with some angle welded across each mounting bolt
