'93 Blazer build thread

so here's the last of what i finished over the long weekend a lot of tubing,

started painting the full doors so i can get those back on there,

and got the wipers working because for some reason they weren't grounding and therefore not working properly so i ran a little ground strap from the wiper housing to the firewall

more progress, got the doors all finished and am just waiting for my metal to come in Friday, then I'm taking off next Mon, Tue, and Wed from work so I can get most of the bed done hopefully and that's basically all that is left to do besides minor things here and there

built some quick disconnect mud flaps to keep it "street friendly", i may go with some larger flaps though these looked a little small once they were on there

also the tubing is all finish welded now, i pulled it off the frame so i could get to the areas behind the cab

I was looking through your older pics and noticed the bike, are you an officer? Nice 4 car garage setup btw!

nope my dad is the 5-0, i'm a machinist, and i have my own place across town but only a one car garage, my parents have the all the space and easy 220v access so i do all my work over there. they say its better than having a drug addiction so they don't mind too much:haha:

That is going to be awesome:bow: That plastic DeeZEE box, does it have a fair amount room and what is the price range? I think that would fit between my cage in back perfectly.

first two floor pieces laid down, and that's a clear plastic drop cloth with the overspray

and i don't have it shown, but i later cut a hole for the gas tank filler neck

Turned out great. I'm not normally a fan of skinned out cages on trucks but that looks really functional. You going to add some type of tie down points for ratchet straps to hold your stuff down or will it all be in boxes?

I really do! its a great load off my shoulders getting it to this point through all the delays and BS along the way, i just can't wait to get it registered again and enjoy it. Thanks for all the comments and support from everybody!

A little update here, got it smogged(very low emission numbers), got some cheap online insurance, and got it registered, so it's finally legal again:woot:. Unfortunately it's limited to about 40mph because the driveshaft starts vibrating around that speed so until i get a new shaft I'll be renting a trailer for any out of town trips.

Probably going to hit up Prairie City near Sacramento or Carnegie near Livermore(for those familiar with the area) first as kinda a shakedown run to make sure everything works still and so if anything does go wrong I'm not very far from home.

And here's something I learned about the GM tbi system as a result of this build that may help others piecing together similar drivetrain setups in their rigs. The system doesn't seem to need a speedometer signal in order to operate properly because I don't have one feeding it and there are no issues with acceleration, coasting, braking, letting off quickly after acceleration, etc...keep in mind though that the tbi motor I used was mated to a 700R4 and not the electronically controlled 4L60E(not sure if that matters either because they both have their own computers). So for what it's worth and this is purely my opinion based on this build but I'd say that the tbi doesn't necessarily rely on a speed signal and can easily be mated to older, non-computer controlled transmissions.

Anybody with a definite answer to this feel free to respond. I just thought I'd post this because I've searched and read through many threads discussing this particular topic.
