'93 Blazer build thread

Very cool. Any plans to bob the rear or leave it as it sits? I guess it depends on how far back the frame rails go

No plans to bob the rear at the moment, there really isn't much length passed the shackles & its higher up so I don't anticipate it being a clearance issue

I'll probably add some kind of tube bumper/armor for the rear portion beyond the tires, at least for the underside

made some progress this weekend
got 90% of the welding done and refitted the tool box, had to notch the wheel wells slightly for it to sit all the way down
also filled in the old gas door cutout with a piece of sheet metal trimmed to fit

got the bed mounts all finished up last weekend and began the fuel tank, but discovered some cracking in the frame between the two rear leaf spring mounts which will need to be reinforced before anything else happens

im still going to trim the rear of the wheel opening because i already know that tire will be right up in that spot

yea not going to bob the rear any at this point, i like the length and it's really not much passed the end of the frame

ill probably make some sort of high clearance tube bumper though to keep the rear from getting too smashed up

it's almost ready to hit the trail again
got the fuel tank mount finished up with a new crossmember, frame repaired and started on some new rear shock mounts since i had to move them from the old location

took some time off work today and went to the DMV to register it from non-op and got the bed all mounted up for good, all that's left to be driveable is some trimming in the rear and fuel filler location

Looks great! Hardly a blazer anymore, haha.

And...you don't really need a fuel filler to drive it. You just need one after you've been driving it for a bit....:haha:

thanks and yeah the only blazer DNA left now is the frame, I must have wanted a pickup all along

and it's rolling again and fulfilling it's truck duties

still a couple things i want to change with the suspension but the bed swap is complete

Do you ever have issues with your tires rubbing your front springs while turning?

I'm running 1.5" bolt on and 1/4" floating spacers on the front and just the 1.5" bolt on's in the rear to match. It still rubs a little at full lock but not bad, it's tolerable.
