96 Donzi Classic 22

Donzi makes a nice boat.. I don't see too many these days in this marina, but my buddy has a red/white one with a BB, and an 18 with a sb.. the 21 is nasty....

oh, obligatory, "boats bring tha suck......" 1 shrinkwrap down, 184 to go..... ;)

Used to ride in Consideration boats years ago. We're always first date. The old man was a friend of my dad's.

When I lived on Long Island, I saw free boats on Craigslist constantly, lots in good shape, owner just couldn't pay for storage anymore and didn't have enough time for a sale. That's how I learned about Chris Craft, a guy was giving away an unbelievably beautiful one. Just moving it would have cost a fortune.

I don't know anything about boats, but congrats on finding the one you were looking for!

No offense @dhcomp.

New found respect for @ryoken .
Boats bring the suck. You couldn't pay me enough to be a boat mechanic.

ha. None taken. Working on that style boat does suck. I definitely appreciate all your efforts to help me through this.

To keep the team up to date, after beags86 drained the block and prepped the boat for transport, the shipper declined to take the load, citing it being longer than was communicated :doah:.

Definitely the fault of the broker. He has until Saturday to get it on the road, or I have my credit card pull the deposit payment.

Thanks for sticking with this beags86!

props to beags...

he!!, if I worked on stuff like that all day, I'd be a happy camper... :haha: try working on a 30' Dancer with twin 496's and a gen set crammed in it...:doah: :1zhelp:

anyway, good looking boat... it's almost the twin to my bud Daves boat.. other than the mill... what year is the boat? and is it a repower?

that's your fuel pressure schrader valve peaking out under the plenum there... those should be ss elbows... you'll wanna ditch those at some point..

oh, couple more notations.... I'm very fond of that motor... it's one of my fave running boat motors.... if I was gonna keeep Mutt gas, that would be a strong candidate for me to run....

and you sort of lucked out on the fuel system.. that's the goofy swapover unit they did for a few years up on top in the back... the one that came out after that had the design issue.. they all failed, it was $1000... your's is a bit of a clusterf*ck in it's location, with the electronics box in front of it, but it's a solid performer...

It’s a 96 with stock motor. Of the 4 you can get in a 2017 Donzi, only one has more hp than this one.

Looking forward to testing it out and getting to know more of the details about it. I’ve never Ridden in or driven on of these boats, let alone done any work on them.

Lots to learn and look forward to!

I love the cam in that motor, it's just a smooth rotating assembly.... 496's scream, but that motor just has a calm snot about it... ;)

throw in the cool plenum! :saweet: be grateful it isn't freshwater cooled (ok, that's a lie :whistle2:) but with the heat exchanger package, you have to pull the plenum to check fuel pressure.. :doah: no big, just a bit dickyier than later 496's, 6.2's, etc... easy peezy on that raw setup tho...

you have ANY questions on ANYTHING in that drivetrain, ask, from prop to flame arrestor, I know WAY too much minutia about these mills/drives... :doah: :haha:

this was, and will be, a freshwater boat?
