96 s10 blazer, getting a 5.3L

:hack::grind::weld::sign11:

It's looking great!

One tip just in case, you may have already done this. Make sure your shock eyes have enough angular movement during articulation. I had to grind on my mounting tabs some or the shocks would bind on the tabs before the bolt sleeves would bind on the shocks itself. I could of ended up with a broken shock shaft or something my first time out if I wouldn't of done that.

Thanks for the FYI, just checked those Tuesday night and they all clear, one was close but we are looking good. That would have really sucked. with the new ORI's. :doah:
Just started it up last night, cam broke in fine and no major problems. Start grinding out the intake and putting the big block tbi on tonight. Planning on a camping trip next weekend. That will be a great time to get some data logging done and fine tune the chip/program. Vid is a little boring but it's alive a gain!:waytogo:

So I have gotten a handful of stuff done in the last week or so. Heading out camping with it this weekend. Will be nothing major, but get some run time in to data log the engine so we can get a good tune going for the chip. Here is the difference of a big block tbi unit and a small block. I bored out the intake to match the gasket with an aluminum carbide. So I put the bb one on and it wouldn't flow any fuel. You can see why here:doah:. So I am now running the bottom end of a big block tbi and the injector pod/ upper section of my old small block. The fuel pressure is cranked all the way up so we will see if it is lean or not this weekend.
I had to put a limit strap on the front end so my drive line wouldnt hit the cross member. I only did one above the d line so it wouldn't hinder any flexing.
I also finished up the battery cables and switches. I drilled out the top post of eh batts and ran a 1/4 bolt with a fender washer into them to help hold down the clamps. Then cut a piece of old inner tube to put on the top. Just in case in the event of a roll and the hood gets smashed in they hopefully won't arc out.
I put the two batt cut off switches under the pass side so somebody can reach them easily when it all goes to hell.

Here is what the front end looks like now. The only change will be the addition of blinkers in the lower outside corners. The "headlights" are kind of high, just wanted to leave as much radiator open as possible since I'm still running a stock s10 one. Haven't had any problems with it so far in 100* plus heat, so I'm pretty confident in it, especially with the inner fenders almost being gone.
Got all my rock lights hooked back up and the new led bar in front. Its seems pretty bright for an 8" bar. about 2100-2200 lumens.
Next is the front drive shaft angle at ride height.
Here is some other wiring I got tied up. I welded 1/4 bolts to the frame and used some clamps. I think it cleaned up pretty well.
Put a new/used set of rear leaves in too. They are stock 63" Chevy with a 2" add a leaf and a second main spring I put in. Kept the rear shackles until I see how much rear lift I need. The I will make some new ones. Looking like it will only be around 3/4". I added just under an inch of ride height with all the changes. The tires added almost an 1 1/2". So it is a little tall, just not much I can do about it. Hope the ORI's are as stable as everybody says they are.

Forgot to even mention I drove it around the neighborhood :woot:and it seems to run pretty well for the conglomeration I am running. Right now it is a stock big block chip, big block tbi unit with small block injectors at max pressure. Everything else seems to work good too. Will try and find something to flex it a little on this weekend.

Had it out camping last weekend and it did great. Have some pics on the camera, just left it at home.
My little man had his tonsils out last week, so I was at home with him. Got a few things done. The wife told me I needed a new steering wheel after she drove it with the full hydro, so we had to get one. I was wanting a 12", but they only had a 13.5" or this 11.5". I let the boy choose so we ended up with the 11.5" one. See if we like it.
Also added an in cab winch control. I had an old warn controller that the pins where messed up on the plug. So i cut the plug off and wired it into the backside of the switch, and ran the power wire through a switch.
Got some more tube work done, windshield bar is 1 1/2" .120 dom, added some disconnects and gussets to it. Got the front support tube done, all welded in. Cut and notched the 3 front roof "x" bars and am hoping to have the exo done by this weekend.

Looks good man, a lot of hard work coming together finally.

Thanks! I was super happy with how it worked last weekend. Looking forward to Blazer Bash. Wife is driving the first day on Hell's though, so I have to wait till area BFE to play

How do the ORIs feel? Street manners, comfort, body roll control..... Etc?

I only have the one ride on them so I'm not a good person to ask right now. I will know more after Blazer Bash. I was happy with them for the weekend. Then I came home and bumped up my pressure in the lower chamber and lowered my ride height from 7" to 5". I was going to lift the rear to match the 7", but decided to lower the front back down instead. I really haven't driven them since I lowered it.

Pretty sure my wife will be driving most of that day too!

So I bought the plate from D&D a year or so ago. Then acquired the ford 205. Then bought the long input shaft from a chevy 205. Then torn the 205 apart and put the long input into it and twin sticked it. New seals, cleaned up and so forth too. I also acquired a 241 with the 27 spline input from the same year as mine so I could use it to get the doubler together without tearing my truck down, then just change the inputs. Well I cracked the case on the 241 in my truck, so out it came for a front case half swap. So the cracked case is now the one being used for mock up. Then I dropped off the whole thing to get the spacer made so that both shift rails will still pullout the front, in December. I finally picked it up today and here is what it looked like. It will be going in next weekend. But was excited to get it back so had to start the thread.
Im sure somebody has asked already in this thread but is there a website for that adapter or do you have to call to get one made?

I had to call him, I don't think he even has a web site. I just looked and can't find his number either, sorry

Little birdy flew by the other day and told me that there will be a more reliable vendor doing a 241 kit in the near future.

Almost got the whole cage done. Here is what the middle of the "x" looks like. I put gussets all the way around because I couldn't get the whole underneath welded up. Also put a 1/2" hole in each of them to strap stuff down to the roof. I added the bar behind the back door and then followed it with one down to the rear bumper to pick up a little bit of triangulation. I added a cross bar between the two tubes that come up through the wheel wells, like a shock hoop brace would be, also a gusset going to the shock hoop. Figured this would pick up the front to back support and the cross brace would help with side to side. Right now I'm up to 37 gussets on the whole cage . Here is a cool pic while we where playing with fire on Tuesday.
