96 s10 blazer, getting a 5.3L

I know, I'm a little torn over. I can't have a buggy and this though. So it must be. I'm doing a 4runner first so we can still have something thats family friendly and will work on most trails in Co and Utah.

That's a pretty good plan. At least you can still scratch the wheeling itch in the meantime and just hit some fun mild stuff until the buggy is done. Are you going to build from scratch or buy a kit (like an Ibex like what Norby did)?

If I get my way I will be buying a race proven production chassis. Something in the 116" wheel base, solid front axle. The ibex is a little shorter than I want. Then I will be building it up from there. Who knows what will happen, but the chance of me buying a kit chassis is small.

Campbell fab? Jimmys? The Campbell chasis is only like 5 grand, and it's definitely race proven.

I really like the Campbell one right now. I might be a little prejudice because he was so nice to my kid at the easter jeep race though. Who knows what will change in the next year or so though.

I've never met him but have heard he is a stand up guy. Hope to meet him at the badlands next year for the ultra4 race

So are you going to start racing? Is that why you want to go with the buggy?

I've wanted to race for years now. My son wants to also, he's 6! There's no way I can pay to full on race, but one or two a year would be nice. Just see how it goes.

My goal too, one maybe 2 a year unless I win a bunch. Would love to race koh in the spec/ emc.

It was great to meet him, his wife and kids too. The Moab race is pretty low key so that probably helped. A very down to earth family though. Healy was nice too, took a quick pic with my son and talked to him for a sec. Sexton was super nice too. Signed a picture for the kids, offered us a beer. From the little I've heard that's how most ultra 4 drivers/teams are.

I thought about building something for 4600 or 4500 class. My biggest regret with my old truck was redoing it all the time. I know that's how builds progress and it's cheaper over time also. I just want it done right the first time as much as possible and just upgrading shocks, motor, brakes and such. Not cutting a bunch off and rebuilding it. So after thinking about it, I think I probably won't meet the rules for those classes and just be really out-gunned in the 4500 class for a couple years.
Then hopefully when my kids are old enough to co-drive or drive I will have a decent spec sheet all the way around. Just have to see how it all pans out! Glad to know I'm not the only one on ck5 with some crazy dreams of going fast!

Yah it's a big dream, and a few years away. I plan on wheeling my trail rig till I get the family cruiser/ go fast k5 done. Then part out the trail rig and build a buggy.

We have a business opportunity coming up in June that we really want to take advantage of and we need the cash from this truck to seal the deal! I've lowered my asking price to $10K, if you have thought about making me any kind of offer please so, we are considering all offers!
