97 King Cab DS-Ton build - Rock Jock 60 and shaved 14

Holy cow! As if the DS-10 wasn't badass enough already!

So with the steering you run a power steering gear but just run a res to gravity feed some fluid to it for lube? Or are you still running a standard pump to it as well as the servo/hydro setup.

The steering gear will not be pressurized, I'm just running the high and low pressure ports to a small reservoir to keep the box full of fluid. I could run a manual box, but the factory one would have a higher number of turns lock to lock which I don't want. I'd have to run an aftermarket box and figure out how to mount it. For me, it's just easier to use the factory box.

Amber to the rescue! She managed to capture pictures of some of the stuff I missed. Rear gear setup and ARB install:

She also got a few shots of the rear axle install process, you can see my custom spring perches and other stuff:

And an action shot of me cutting out the siezed bolt from the old axle so I could re-use my radius arm:

Are you still going to drive on the street with the full hydro, or is it going to be a trailer queen from now on?

By the way, not sure what happened to my earlier post but I was complimenting your upgrades. Your rig looks much better and can't wait to see it in action again.

I see 3 posts from you, not sure if there was a 4th...

It's not full hydro, but it's also not hydro assist... There is a steering box (stock S-10 unit) with a pitman arm and a drag link connected to the passenger side high steer arm, but there is a Sweet mfg. servo in line with the steering column. The servo detects torque on the steering column and directs hydraulic pressure to the double ended ram to move the steering, however if I lost hydraulic pressure I could still manually steer the truck.

Also, I forgot to answer your question about driving it on the street. Yes, I will be driving it on the street, in fact this year I'll be overlanding all the way to Moab pulling a trailer and driving home on the highways pulling said trailer. It should be just as stable as it was before (the reason I went with radius arms again).

That's an interesting setup that I ought to look into, not like I will necessarily need it now. I read through the posts and skimmed through your pictures too fast to notice the drag link.

Bad deaf guy, bad! :doah:

Is there a way to change the title of this thread anymore or am I stuck with the one I have now?

Premium only option?

I didn't think it was premium only but I never posted a thread back before going premium. Can always PM one of the Mods and they should be able to help you out also

I think I can change the thread title. Let me know what you want it to say.

This thread was created on the old forum, I could change the title there, but not here.

I haven't thought of a clever title yet though.... How about "97 King Cab DS-Ton build - Rock Jock 60 and shaved 14"
