97 sas'sy Sierra/ 80 Cheep 10: tales of a phat block

I see. I have to be at work at 0600, so guess I'm two hours ahead of you then.

Is that spruce good for firewood? I'm not too impressed with it as lumber. It's definitely the cheapest stuff you can buy in 2x4 form however. Just no grain. It's not dense enough or something .

Man it's still early. :doah:

Yeah if it's dry enough/not rotten. Usually is pretty nice stuff when he bark starts going orange type shade if that makes any sense?

Some of it has a nice core, other stuff is punky yes.

Yes it's early, if rather be in bed. This 4 hours of sleep nonsense sucks big time.

Took the hood off, pulled the rad. Guess its in poor shape, the trans cooler in the rad is leaking into the coolant part. Was roughly a good 1" or so in the bottom of it. I think I'll prob flush it best I can, and bypass the rad all together and just run the auxiliary cooler it has.

Also deal fell through on that 74 parts truck, huge family fued ensued over it or something. I just said Eff it, looks like my buddy's gonna let me snake the grill out of it atleast.

Did a huge garage cleanup, now I have plenty of room to make a mess out of this weekend.

Scored this 84 c10 though. Just a 305 in it, needs frost plug or something.

Gonna strip it, scrap the rest. Prob will make a trailer outta Er or something.

Used to work with the guy that has it, he said its mine if
I help him swap motors in his boat, just an inboard 4.3, good deal I thought :waytogo:

Juggled some small blocks around, dropped the 305 in. Your basic stuff left of hooking everything up. Distributor gear was chewed up a bit, swapped it with one I had outta the Beaumont.

Dropped trans pan for filter/front seal as well. Some crud in the pan, wasn't the best/wasn't the worst.

Had to die grind the inspection cover a **** ton to clear the rear 1 piece seal housing. Don't recall that issue when I did my 84 k5, unless 700r4s have more clearance :dunno:

Had to chisel the oil filter off the other motor to get the oil filter adapter I told some Alberta focker to use on his 454 as well :pimp:

On that note, if I see my old buddy who swapped this motor imma slap him for tightenin the piss outta it

Those parts were still mine till they crossed the border Focker! :haha:

Are you going to do the ziptie art like you did on my wires!? That looks cool Jesse! :thumb: Seriously! That is nice work! :waytogo:

I dont know if I will, never even thought of it :haha:. The old tree fiddy had some chrome seperators that bolt to the valve cover bolts I might use if I can :dunno:

Gonna make my own plug booties, ordered up some performance world sheathing.

Got some new tars and wheels for it. Some 32x11.50 cooper at's mint shape. 2 with a bit of cupping and the other 2 brand new damn near. Not bad for $100.
Also scored a set of factory spoked wheels with all caps and rings for a 24 of pil.

Went and got that grill and 2 of the brackets. Still have to go swap hood latches yet, guess they are different. Also buddy said if I swapy square stuff for the round he could care less.....hopin to do that yet as well.

As far as the motor, its all together, even did the zip tie wire seperators for kicks. Changed heater core, fixed couple of the cables that were bent on the controls. Went to fire it, had the dizzy out 1 tooth. Fixed, got it to fire off a carb prime. Was late last night, so I shut her down. Got fuel drawn to the pump, which was new looking off the old motor. So I suspect that being the problem of it not pulling fuel to the carb. Gonna get a new one today and try that Tuesday :thumb:

Have to get a diff bracket for the kickdown cable, forgot that the stocker won't work. Not a huge issue.
