97 sas'sy Sierra/ 80 Cheep 10: tales of a phat block

No real update, busy sanding/filling/sanding.

Started sanding the body down, the blue is duplicolor paint shop stuff and the primer is some kind of tremclad buddy told me. The duplicolor sure is soft crap. The primer is actually pretty tough/hard it seems. Just taking those couple layers of paint off.

I wanna throat punch my buddy who painted it :haha:

Edit: sold the 12 bolt for fiddy bucks, so I'm broke even on the d44/flattops. Pretty good deal if yeah ask me.

Been picking away at it bit by bit, fixed a bunch of odds and ends. Stay tuned for more :D

I don't know how that steel body lasted so long up there. All the '73-'80 bodies around here were already really rusty when I was a kid in the '80s and '90s. Now they're almost all gone. Only the '81 and newer bodies seem immune to rust.

Man you must either get up real early or stay up real late. :haha:

Night shift.

Yeah it's hit or miss up here with rust. the cab is the only original body part to the truck. Kinda funny how 1 rocker survived and cab corners/supports turned to rust :haha:

My old mans 77c20 survived good though, only thing that was changed was the front fenders. But it is well taken care of.

Do you need a sliding rear window for that Jesse?

Buddy Dan has a really nice tinted one I can have...I`m going to take it but I don't need it!

Don't need tint if you have louveres :haha:

Already is a slider, have to mod the latch/center alum pieces as the 76 was a bit different than this one.

Ok sweet I couldn't tell from the pic or remember if you said it had one or not.

Fock off with the louvers! :doah: :haha:

I would be okay if it had a sold back window anyways!!

Just hatin on the louveres.....and you think I'm joking about using them :haha:

Score me a gun rack already.....haha

No I don't think your joking about using them! ..... that's my hole point!
They are gay! Don't do it! :eek1:

Well been retardedly busy over the last week. Had some issues with the white overspray reacting with the orange for some odd reason. The paint all lifted on the top part of the 2 tone. Had to strip it all off and start from scratch. Just finished it this morning.

I used extreme single stage urethane paint fwiw.

It's by no means perfect, but with some love it should look pretty good I'd say. Was ready to burn it by Friday this week.

For a booth, I just poly'do my garage off and used a box fan to pull the fumes/overspray out. Worked fairly well, learned lots as well :waytogo:

Old school. Nice. I've rigged up a booth like that a couple of times. Last time I just painted right outside my house on a dead end street. Of course I got bugs and pollen in the paint. You're smarter than me apparently.
