97 sas'sy Sierra/ 80 Cheep 10: tales of a phat block

Cleaned up some extra wiring, half ass cantered the steering wheel, trimmed the front bumper a bit(needs more), changed the badly leaking transfer case output seal and drove it 50 miles round trip to my buddy's to measure it for shocks.

Rides not bad, pretty sure tires are way out of balance, cruises just peachy at 70mph and open hedderzzz are kewl. Especially when you do burnouts in a shop :haha:

This is prob the first time I've ever flexed the truck out since I owned it. Not near the frame twist of any squarebody I've ever had.

Great googly moogly that looks good.

No real update, went to put calipers on. Have to unbolt brackets to get the top bolt in. Said screw it for the week

Due to a series of events, I'm now using the k10 as my daily. Unsure for how long, or how long it will run for :rotfl:

Also turns out power steering pumps like fluid, guess it was low in the k10. Hasn't ever worked this good in the 3000 miles I've driven the truck :whistle::woot:

Just rollin home from the farm with it yesterday :saweet:

I'm going to burn this thing.

The Eldo swap has been nothing but a pain in my ass . New calipers didn't come with banjo bolts, had to source 7/16 banjo's, washers and brake lines. Ended up picking up a raybestos hose #BH38171 for those who care.

Had to tweak the angle of the hard line. First line went no problem, second line broke with no effort where it enters the caliper :yikes:. Have to get a warranted one tomorrow.

Picked up ebrake cables a month ago.....dummy at parts store sold me a set for a long box. Go figure :flipoff1:. Sourced the right ones yesterday.

As it stands, need to come up with some cable mounts for the ebrake and get the other line on and bleed calipers.

Couple zip ties on the soft line and we will be rolling :D

End rant.

Whipped that up. Seems like it should work. It's only mounted to the 1 bolt on the caliper bracket. I think I'll leave it and see if it moves over time. Can weld a stop on the top of it if needed.

Seems to function as it should, guess I'll find out once I get the calipers bled.

Looks good. I said piss on it and I have no parking brake currently since I did my rear discs using front calipers. I am planning on someday doing a driveline brake or maybe just line locks on front and rear circuits. It's an auto trans so not super critical but should have something for safety reasons.

I never worried about it on my k20.

Driveline brake would have cost way more than this swap has.

More or less want one for inspections and boat launches.

Ok so couple questions, The caddy calipers bolt right to a standard bracket that fits a front caliper right? Are you using front rotors for a 73-87 solid axle truck? Do you use caddy brake pads I'm assuming? and what year for the caddy stuff? They just hook to brake cables like normal for the most part? I may just have to convert mine and go that route now after looking into it.

76-78 eldorado caliper with caddy pads. Chevy ones are thicker. The 76-78 use the 7" spacing like the (Chevy 10 bolt). I am using stock ebrake cables, you will have to make mounts for the cable like I have. Yeah just plain old k20 rotors.

Found a good write up here:

The calipers I went with(partstore remans don't come with the ebrake brackets):
