'99 4 Door Tahoe SAS Build, Taking it back a few years

I think I’d slam a new filter and pan on it and if it shudders again, start looking for a new trans

That’s after only 2500 miles of on road use. This is the second time for me to drop the pan in the last 3 months. It quit pulling before and I change the filter and all seemed good. But now It’s got a shutter it does between 3 and 4 at low rpm. So I dropped the pan just to check. The pics are what I found.
Ah, well with that added info I’d say go with BentMarker’s plan.

Finally, new rubber!! Cooper Discoverers STT pros, size 37-12.50-17. Sad to say that this is the first set of brand new tires that I’ve put on the Tahoe since I put it together. Went this route hoping for a little better road wear vs. the IROKS. Hoping I didn’t sacrifice much of the off-road ability. Time will tell.

I don’t think you’ll notice any less traction with the new rubber in Moab
Yep, It's not Moab that I'm worried about. I think street tires would rock it at that place. Its the local trails. Loose rock and dirt is where the IROKS really amazed me. I'll just have to see with these.

So what happened with the trans?
changed the fluid and filter and all fine so far. No more shutter. Shifting well. Have had one full weekend of hard wheeling, towed a couple of vehicles, and coming up on 2,000 miles since the change. Asked several transmission shops about it, all have said there's defiantly wear, but don't fix what ain't broke. So I'm still rolling with it.

Hey ChadBrad

want me to bring a spare 465?
:haha:

LOL, since '09 when I bought my blazer it's never had "new" tires on it. Chunk them faster than I wear then hahahaha, why buy new? Craigslist specials for me. Anything between a 37 to 40" tire. :D

Dang that thing looks good! I was just recently thinking that I might need a newer Tahoe or burban with a big block or 6.5TD to build a wheeling rig I can beat on more. I just don't think I could ever let my K5 get an significant body damage.

Looking really good. I think you picked right on the tires.

If they’re anything like the Nittos I think you’ll be happy. IMO I don’t think the iroks have much if any advantage over the Nittos in the rocks. Plus you drive to trails like I do so I would never run the iroks.

Did you ever get a chance to do a front locker and hydro assist?

No front locker yet. I want to go with an air locker, and its just not in the budget as of yet. But its the very next mod after my hydro assist. The adding of the hydro assist starts this weekend. I'm rebuilding and tapping my own steering box. PSC ram came in this week, and I've about rounded up the rest of the parts.
Pics of my process soon to follow.
