Alrighty fellers, gathering parts for the SAS on my Burb. As it sits I've got a 6" RC lift with 35x14.5R20s and -54mm backspacing. Definitely rubs. The goal is to run 37s and play in moab without rubbing OR trimming sheet metal. ORD has a 7" kit, but based on what I'm running now, I'm not sure that will be enough height. Just wanted to check here and see if anyone had any insight as to how much lift I'll need to meet my goals.

Pic for attention

I’m running approximately 5” of lift and 35’s. I need to trim the bumper just a hair, but that’s it.

ORD’s SAS kit and 1” lift Alcan springs

Rub at all when flexed out? Think 7" is plenty for the 37s? Not worried about the bumper as I've got a winch bumper from Four By Design that should give me more room up there.

I have the 4x 3/4 ton BB burb, and my beat up 81 crew cab. And I'm having the hardest d*mn time trying to decide if I want to SAS the burb as my full on 4x rig, or shorten the CC and rob the engine/trans from the burb.

I waffle about it every day. :doah:

I was thinking about the 7" ord kit myself.
I'll watch this one :waytogo:

Did you already trim the front bumper and valance? Kinda appears that way.

What front axle are planning on running? Leafs, coils, coilovers?

Whatever axle you go with. You might have to push it forward a couple of inches to help mitigate rubbing/trimming the rear lower portion of the front wheel wells (below the a pillars).

Wheel backspacing and offset. Along with tire width will have to be factored in for rubbing.

Remember to give yourself plenty of clearance on components for up/down travel. Clearance with one wheel stuffed in fender and turned.

A 7” might be what you need. Could adjust height if you don’t like, (if you still have enough clearance).

Initially I did a 9” leaf spring sas with 39” tires on my duramax truck. It was awesome wheeling and loaded down. Handled well on road and at freeway speeds. Then I wanted to lower it down. The truck is currently on a 7” coilover lift with 37s. I’m planning on lowering down to a 5” lift.

Little long winded, just food for thought.

Figured I should update this thread and maybe one of the mods ( @Bent77 ) can move it to the builds section. I ended up ordering a 10" leaf spring lift from ORD. The so far here's my build:

Have:
GM D60 front
14BFF rear
32 spline pass drop NP241C
Custom front and rear bumpers from FBD @stan1688
Hydro Assist
Cable NP241 shifter

Ordered:
10" ORD SAS kit
5-40x13.5x17 Nittos

Need:
Time and space
Front and rear driveshafts eventually
?

Moved! :waytogo:

Just an update, spoke with ORD and they said my springs are in this next batch and should be shipping any time! I still need to break down Murphy before I can start on the burb.

Also, just wanted to say thank you to all that put on/supported BB this year. Shout out to @Bent77 and @ktmoutfront for all your hard work and good luck @ZooMad75 for future events.

As I'm still in the parts gathering stage, I figured I should probably list what I've already done.

Mods are as follows:

Quadstar Super54 set to 20psi
Quadstar Marine injectors
Quadstar tune
Quadstar intake
Quadstar billet fsu with 1/2 feed to LP
Raptor 150 LP
-6an from LP to IP with ftb mods
Quadstar stainless x-over with bellows
3" DP with 4" diamond eye exhaust
Pmd relocated

The original 6.5 was replaced with an Optimizer so most/all the weak points should have been addressed. I've got headstuds and gaskets so I can run more boost that I need to install as well as a fluidampr balancer to keep from breaking my crank in the future. I also had the fortune to acquire the brake upgrade door prize from Powerstop at BB and need to get in touch with @AgDieseler to get that ordered (Thank you for making that possible!).

You're getting some premium goodies together for your build, and I'm glad to have been able to help contribute.

Got a little bit done this week with some preemptive maintenance while still dismantling Murphy. The existing balancer didn't look bad, but as I already had the fluidampr and didn't know mileage on the existing one it was time to swap it out.

I also deleted the vacuum pump while I was in there.

While you at that point I'd change this one.

It goes bad and makes a clanging banging sound. It's got the rubber in it that cushions the belt from the violence of the crank.

It's on the docket, when I had it off I noticed some slight weather cracking. Going to order a billet one

Been a minute since updating, got the front bumper from FBD built and installed and for the sake of the length of this page, I'll leave them attached without inserting all the pictures. EDIT: I tried to not insert them all...but can't quite figure out how to just insert some pictures and not all of them...oh well.

I did run into issues with the way the factory looped a bunch of hard line for the power steering in the frame and had to remove that and installed the cooler instead.

I also got the axles and trans+t-case loaded up on the trailer to be cleaned before the build weekend this weekend.

And I finally picked up a power coating gun, so I'm going to be busy prepping these parts and trying to get them all coated before this weekend as well, hahaha.
