It's all about the "lip" on these replacement panels. Some have them..some don't..
When I first did a order of panels I went through LMC. Much of the stuff was either really thin or it just didn't have the lip. On my second order of panels I went through GMC Pauls who sells a lot of the KEY parts. A much thicker panel but still no "lip" for this panel. So, needing the lip I ended up using the one that I cut off the passenger side front quarter.
After all of the cutting and fitting to get the line correct on the wheel well opening, my panel ended up a little short. I thought no problem, I'll just use my spare LMC panel. Got it all cut up to where it fit really nice and decided I just didn't want to use the thin panel. So I was left with re-ordering a new one, or fill the gap. Well I went with filling the gap, not to proud that it's not perfect, but it will have to do.

I was able to get both the valve covers off with no trouble.
