Thanks Man..:waytogo: It would be cool if you could make it out this way. Maybe someday, I'll even have a Blazer to take ya for a a nice trail ride up behind the house. :D

It was hot, hot, hot this weekend. Yesterday it got up to 103 in the garage. Tough to keep going on small parts when it gets that warm, but I pushed through and made some more progress. Did a lot of work on the exhaust system and the two supports for the front of the doubler mount.

The two supports on the front, ended up going over the exhaust system. I still need to move the front fabricator bushings back 1" 7/8. When I first had them on there, I was kinda prohibited by the arc of the tube vs. the placement. I knew that I wanted to put in the tube inserts in before I mounted the front bushings. Once I got it on the bench, I realized that I didn't need to section out the 1" 7/8 for the tube coupler, just cut it once and weld them in, adding the length of the coupler to the hoop. This will bring the two front fab bushings back to the sides of the hoop, instead of coming off the radius of the front of the hoop.

couple of pics.

Haha, thanks guys. :waytogo: Gotta admit, it does look funky with those front hoop things. It was the only way that I could add any kind of beef up front though. I'll add a strong back to the bottom of those tubes. Maybe even buy a die set so I can make some cool speed holes in them. :pimp:

You know, gotta keep the weight down and all with this rig. :haha:

It sure was nice taking the engine hoist out from under the rig. Crawling around those legs has gotten beyond old.

I'll place it in one more time. Figure out the front fab bushings and tack them in. At the same time I can weld the tubes to the side plates, remove everything and get a final weld on. The only thing that I would have left is the tubes on the back crossmember then. I'll probably wait until I figure out how I'm going to mount the e-brake cable though. Maybe I can do it all as one.

After that, it's on to the the pass slider and bottom tubes.

I'd love to not have to crawl under this thing every weekend.

Need to order up the front shocks and a double batt box next for the engine cage. It will be nice working at chest level for a couple of weekends. :woot:

Hey Mike, I really like the design of the cradle and the execution....well done!

Thanks Dave..

Hopefully another ~16 hours or so and it'll be done.

i run .030 for EVERYTHING......

You Sir, are the reason that I did the switch up. I'll probably stick to the .024 for the sheet metal, but this was sooooooo much better yesterday with the thinner stuff. Still not super pretty, but way better. I still need to get use to not holding my guide hand so tight and let it flow.

it's more due to laziness than anything else.. it's bad enough I have to switch the machine from flux to gas all the time for when i bring it down to the windy marina, I don't want to have to do it from sheetmetal to 3/8 too...

my biggest issue these days is seeing the bead well... hehe, you just inadvertently reminded me, I wanted to look into buying magnifying lenses for my helmet... :waytogo:

Uhmmm Yeah. I'd love to be able to see the bead a little better. The cheaters that I wear just don't cut it some times. :doah:

Off to google. Post it up if you find some good ones.:waytogo:

they sell all the different magnifications on ebay.. i don't know what power will be best, so i'm gonna get an assortment..

I use my 1.5 readers also....helps alot with the close stuff!

Just stopped at the welding store on the way home. Bought some new lenses for in and out and picked up a cheater set of 1.75. I tried them all the way up to 2.25 and it was way to much. Mind you I'm also using some cheater glasses. Never needed them when I was bangin' nails, but now that I sit at the computer all day, I'd be lost without them. Literally...

LoL, I was hoping that someone would get a kick out of it and not just think that I named my build thread something ghey..:wink1:

Sorry Paul, hope that didn't get me expelled from paint school, before I even started my first day of class. :o

I thought I was the only one...I was sharpening my powersaw the other day and all I could see was a blur of chainsaw teeth and my file that looked like a fuzzy stick. :haha:

Getting old does suck! :doah:

I like the new name for your thread! :thumb:

So is that a reference to something I'm just not getting or is that what your gona call your truck? I know names are hard I pondered a long while before i let "The Anti-Prius" go public.
