That is the truth!!!

The only thing I don't like about it is from a distance you would never know how awesome that bumper actually is! But we all do!!

Only those who know, can truly appreciate the amount of work gone into keeping that stock bumper appearance.

Very nice work Mike!!!

Your gonna add more tubes?

Way way impressed with the amount of work you have put in to keep the stock bumper. I coulda built 4 tube bumpers or 2 plate bumpers in the time that you have into that thing

Thanks Eric. :waytogo: I, you or something has really changed for you to give props on this part of the build. :thumb: :haha:

Here is what I had in my mind as far as the other tube. It might work, It might not, but it should help hold out those corners, bottom and front tube.

This is friggin awesome, serious props Mike. I'm diggin in big time.

Thanks Brother.. :waytogo:

Funny you should say that. After the HERO moment had past and beers were going down in front of the truck, I did say lets take off that skin so we can look at it again. I gotta admit, it did turn out pretty cool. :D

Thanks John. I always truly appreciate your thoughts on this fab stuff that I have going on. :pimp:

Mike,

Is there room under the radiator support to sneak a couple bars in toward the frame at a strong 45* angle??

If you support that upper and lower bumper tube at the nodes (especially if you get the braces at 45*) any forces trying to bend or distort the bumper corners are strongly supported.... much better than trying to use long tubes from a substantial distance away where you are really can't prevent the "lever-arm" deflection anyway.

Sorry for the lousy rendering, just trying to get an idea out to you quickly.

Looks great man! I see where you cut a little more fang out and solved the area I thought would be a concern.

With as awesome as this looks maybe you take a page out of Gregs book and off road you actually remove the bumper and just leave the bracing... ?

The problem is the steering box. Just no way to get it at a 45* on that side. I did think of plating the back side of the front shackle hanger and launching a tube forward off that ,but you really don't gain that much of an angle.

Thought about coming off the engine cage, but that would require a through hole and another disco.

Here is what I'm talking about. Don't really know if one is needed, but If I can, I sure would like to.

I have thought about it. :pimp: Just don't know if it will be worth it........ yet. :haha:

I still need to finish it off first and that may require one more bolt hole (bumper bolt) just at the very end. The one thing I do know about these bumpers if their willingness to grab any small tree when you are backing up and pack it between the fender and bumper. Generally giving a nice bend to the tin can.

Oh I still think your bumper after a few seasons of wheeling hard is gonna look like a mt dew.....................you know the rest.

I am seriously impressed though by how it has come out and the amount of time you have spent for a certain look. I mean if a shop were to do that you would be the only person with a $1500 stock bumper :haha:

I honestly think you have braced it up enough. The bumper is still gonna get dinged and dented.

I still might add something way out there on the end of it. I think the middle is more than enough though

Thing is you can build a bumper to not bend. But you are not building a bumper you are building a bracing system for a stock bumper. At some point you just gotta stop and say. Well thats 50 lbs of tube and plate that oughta be good enough

So, my Dad came in for the weekend and it was a great weekend to say the least. :thumb:

He had seen me out in the garage and the "thing" that I've been working on. My dad loves garage stuff, including welding as much as me. I explained that the entire rig had basically been built with two grinders. He politely giggled and didn't say much more.

Last night when he was leaving, he handed me a check for 2k, with the stipulation that the money could not be used for seats, house bills, food..........nothing except a new plasma cutter.

Just got done ordering the Hypertherm 45 from Harris Welding Supply. :woot:

I feel like it's Christmas morning and I'm 9 years old right now. :pimp:

I had to share the excitement with someone and I knew that you guys would appreciate this more than most.

Hell yeah, said Mike....... :saweet: :saweet: :waytogo: :haha:

Very cool thing for your dad to do!!!

You are a lucky guy!:waytogo:
Especially nice that he stipulated what you had to spend it on...:D

We all know there are too many places any extra money can go.!

Wooooooo hooooooooooo that is a NICE plasma, it will save you time and money.

I bet money I have saved enough money in cut off wheels that my cheapie chinese plasma has paid for itself at least once

That was one of the pretty cool things about it. Just like most of the guys here, the money or most of it would have been spent on "other things".

Awesome dad! :thumb:

Took me pretty much by surprise, too.

F'ing awesome!!

...is he adopting?? :)

Hell NO..... now that I know that he is willing to give some of his green up, I'll be calling more and probably telling him secrets about my three brothers. :haha:

On Saturday, my bud was putting on a new disk and cracked it. I looked at him and said there goes $3.57 + tax.

Just a guess, but I'm probably in the range of 120-150 of those things since I've joined here.

I sure think that this will save a lot of cash and time...

Because, this place is fockin' expensive, I tell ya. :doah: :haha:
