A How To On : Hydro Sm465 On The Cheap!

Biggest difference in pedal feel is the type of pressure plate. Diaphram clutches are pretty easy on the leg, but the three finger style (Borg & Beck) are just brutal...

Rene

brand new three finger (12 spring).

that's f**k'n'sweet. if my hydraulic bellhousing is cracked then a normal one is an easy option.

novak wont sell it seperate from the kit, that was what I wanted to do and they didnt want to mess up the inventory, they guy I spoke with was a damn jack ass and rude/unaccomadating ect. straight up rustled my feathers. and could anwer simple questions or give me straight answers.

anyways, im sure they are a fine company, and I do like their product, i just got someone who was no help or i cought him on a off day?

used a stock rod by removing the c-clip inside both master cylenders, if using the will wood you will have to make the rod to your pedal longer, also note the mount goes to where you factory non hydro linkage bar went to.

the only thing not shown is the rod, made from a piece of the old shift linkage bar, with tappered ends.

also not shown is the support bar, made from the smae material but with tabs added to the bottom of my bracket, to the lower 205 inspection plate.

also for more refrence incase you wish to use stock parts,

here is a set up my friend did, he used a home made set up for his 88, along with a factory slave and a factory master from 91 or so ifs truck

I am doing a similar setup on my 87 k5. It was factory 700r4/ np208, I swapped in a sm465 / np208 with a 88 up style bell(pass side slave) and put in a pedal setup from 84 earlier(linkage) truck. I was trying to use a clutch master cyl for 85 up truck/sub/blazer and attach the push rod to the clutch pedal. I drilled out a hole that I thought would give the right arc and stroke, but the problem is that the pedal is 2-3 inches to the pass side of where the clutch master rod is when straight. I know I could have it off a little, bout this much puts it in a bind.
How did you hook up your actuator rod to the pedal assy? Got a pic? I would really appreciate any more detail you could give me on this.

ill be getting a new camera ths week,

my truck originaly was a hydro manual so my pedal config had the hole to put the rod on.

I can snap pics and you can compare them, cant you move the master over?

I was thinking you started with a mechanical pedal set. Oh well.
Can't move the master over, guess I will have to locate a hydro pedal set. I looked at 1 (hydro)in my buddy's project and it is 1 solid piece for the pedal lever, my mechanical set is 2 pieces bolted together and I am not sure if the newer pedal would go in the old style bracket and everything still line up. Oh well, guess I wasted my time and money on the pedal set I have and will just have to somehow locate another set to get it right.
