A K5 Top Truck Challege!!!!!!

Any tenative dates thought about yet? I don't really feel like being in Moab with 6000 Jeeps, it would probably take us 2 weeks to get in the wheelin we want to help determine who goes to the 'finals'.
Buying the gas and finding enough vacation time will be the first obstacles to conquer!

I think most of us are in this boat so its all fair, I think I'm 1200 miles from Moab, Tellico may as well be light years!
My Jimmy is also deeply scratched and dented and tore up from some of our lovely trails here, at Clear Creek my bumper got ripped off and I ended up with some nice rock rash on the drivers side! Wax is for snowboards!

After hearing about all these scratches and dents from the east coast boys I am starting to think they just cant drive. Butch is up for any challenge from the east or central U.S. Coming from Alabama and running trails there compared to these in Colorado I think the Tellico guys will find themselves with their hands full out here. As for the paint, left rear quarter panel has a magic marker dating and naming Hell's revenge trail in Moab for the sheetmetal redesign. I am ready to put up, but dont follow me you wont make it :-)). My EJS dates are currently April 10-15 although I may go a day or two earlier with Steve. Stephen from ORD wants to do lower Helldorado so I have to be there by Wed. for that run should be interesting.

I thought I was wrong once,
but I was mistaken

If we're talking body damage, here's a small scratch left by a tree. There's more under the tail light.

ATTN: West Coast SISSIES

First Issue: Shawn, are you taking driving lessons from Steve?

Second: Fellow East Coast Guys, I think we would have to drive out to the west and meet those lil surfer sissies. We all know they spend money on Chrome, Wheels & Paint. Those lil trucks wouldn't make it out here. So, as soon as we can put this together, lets make it a West Coast B!TC# Slapped party.

Oh, we have to make it some time before December 2002. I'm thinking of moving out to Colorado or Utah after my Enlistment in the Airforce.

Well if there's a prize for the most [censored] falling off of a truck I might just have a chance! Maybe I'll save the tub swap for a little later. LOL
1 right fender
1 marker light
1 Tail light
1 battery
2 mirrors
1 door
3 shock mounts
Not enough film Shawn!

I know the battery falling off had to suck.My battery fell down into the engine compartment and the pos post melted trough one of my tranny lines. I ended up cutting a piece of my fuel line off and spliced the trans line back togather (metal to hose to metal to hose) and used some dudes belt to tie down the battery. Man I love fourwheelin.

hehe Lets see 3 tail lights last year. Would have been 4 but I was watching the 79 Bronco in front of me when he ripped his out and I whipped out the leather man took the tail light out and let the body fold. Titanic knows the spot on upper 2. Took a tire iron out and popped the fender back out so the tail light would fit for the ride home.
Hmmmm left front fender door and about 6 inches of the tub on lower rattle snake at Beasley Knob. Was slicker than snot on the trail with a week of off and on rain and after 5 attempts to stay off a rock about 36 inches tall I gave up and took the damage. Rich Mt took out another tail light. Uhhh Anderson creek got one.
Dropped the ass end on a rock so hard I shoved the bumper into the body flexed the body and cracked the top at the peanut butter bowl. http://grimsk5s.coloradok5.com/

Sounds fun Grim! I don't live anywhere near Moab or CA. I don't think you've seen rain until you've been here. I'm about 2 hours North of Seattle. Too mountainous to have much mud, it all ends up at the bottom of the mountain. All our rock is wet almost all the time, and loose. None of these nice 8 ton boulders that stay where they are, mostly they roll and move on you as you try and crawl over em. Then we get some nasty trenches from runoff and the typical opposing holes from open diff trucks trying to dig to China. Then with the rain we get almost all the trails are very grown in. Even the fire roads are good places for damage with some of the 1 to 2" branches that jump out and grab body panels.
I actually can't wait to try out Moab, it will sure be different to wheel somewhere with real traction!
Who know maybe I'll find the gas money for Tellico one day, I'd like the chance to try it out and see how much of my Jimmy I can leave behind

SOme of us spend the winter working on a few things. So far I'v added rocker sliders, swiched to a singel exhust, tapperd the rear bumper to the corners, removed the OEM tow hook/spring gaurds/ instaled tow points in the front bumper that also takes the tow bar, found a way to make the brakes work when it being towed on the tow bar. Replaced all the front ball joints and tie rodends plus moved the tie bar fronm the top were you have to drop the axel from the springs to get it out. and I'm working on a 4 inch lift, fronts done to night I start the rear! I need 4 inch on the money to get it setting leveal!!!! But yea I'm ready with 530 HP 490 # of tork from my little TPIed 406 and 102 to 1 low so bring on the towing event!!!!. Yea one other winter mod to go on board air and I dont mean one of them baby things like I had!!!! I 'm in Kansas City so let me know which way I have to go first to beat who so I can get on to the one on one with Steve Watson or Frisby ( both of which have a very big mode going on that should kill me in a ramp event)

I understand the jeep thing I drive a BLAZER!!

OK fellas over the next couple of years we all need to plan the finals! We West coasters can do the Rubicon in the summer of 2002 with a full trail report and East Coast, well pick something that is nasty enough to match the Con!
We will compare the trip reports and go from there!
Realistically for me to drive to the East would take me 5 days and who knows how much gas ans thats just getting there!

So that leavs us with a trip report blowout! Then we can leave the voting upto the CK5 members!
We could even add the Central and Southern States too??!!

I'm tell ya'all we need a K5 train!!!
cool.gif
Ya know like the old days whaen you could ride your horse into the train then go up front to the beer, food and whatever else. Wake up and your on the other side of the states!! That would be too cool!

I actually like the idea that Kieth made about the West guys competing in maybe Moab and for the East guys, we compete in Tellico. Then the top contestants from East and West go and meet in the BADLANDS or somewhere later in the year. That sounds like a good plan don't you think??

Yeild2me:

I'm about 90 miles or so from Fayetteville I think. It takes about 20 minutes to get to Smithfield, and who knows how long down 95. Usually I just take US13 down there.

Anyway, the wheeling sorta sucks. Not much of anything. If you look at my pic's on my page, they are of all the same place. There is one place you can pay to get in, but its just gravel pit. Anything other then Fourwheelers and bikes its lame.

If you get a chance, let me know what you have around you. Also my dsn is 722-4109 Senior Airmen Perez.

There called car carriers!!! You know the ones you can pull with a dually. All the little car lots have them these days. Talk the guy into renting it and pull two maybe three rigs. That would save alot of gas. Me and Dep saw the best solution ever the last wheeeling trip we went on. A eighteen wheeler pulled in at the top of the power lines with 7 Jeeps on it. I'm talking sleeper cab and ground effects. Those guys banded together and got the total hookup. They plan to go to Moab soon. They where from N.C.

We were going to do something similar 2 years ago when we were going to the Bloomsburg, PA Jamboree. My borther has a 48' flat and a 84 Kenworth w900 with a 425hp+ Cat.. We were even going o put our clubs sticker on the bug deflector..

But then my bro backed out and didn't want to go through the expense.(even though we would cover the expense)

:(

That would be sweet though, pulling up with our rigs on a Rig.. Talk about intimidation!

My dream tow rig would be a Dodge, crew cab, Dually, 4x4 with a Cat(if they ever make one) and then have a fifth wheel trailer that will hold about 3-4 rigs...... that would be nice! :)
