A little too much antagonizing lately

What I hate is those noobs who ask for help when they could have simply searched and saved themselves a post.... oh wait :pimp:

Isnt that how it always goes? I havent done anything since noon so ive been keeping track of ck5 for today.

Not a lot actually. This post started out just as it seems. A gentle caution by the sysop to keep it within the usual K5 bounds.

Such as they are.

And all was fine.

Then, a new guy showed up and posted a question on another thread, and Doc answered him about like you might expect to be answered if you had been here for a while.

Unfortunately the new guy was just that.
New.
And did not realize the type of give and take we have around here and took it personally.

And responded in kind.
I started to try to gently let the guy know what the score was, but could not figure out how to do it without risking another misunderstanding.

So, Doc pretty much let it drop, but made a comment on this thread since it seemed appropriate.
Myself and some others chimed in, Boobies were invoked, and it all spiraled out of control as it so often does.

If you want the rest of the whole, now boring, story, heres the other thread.

Well, I wasn't intending to, I just got back online and saw CherryK5's question and figured I would answer it.

I love the threads where someone asks a beat to death question and says they searched all over and couldnt find the answer. Then a guy comes along and posts several different threads where the question was answered. FORPLE!

So much E-drama could be avoided if only people would give others the benefit of the doubt first. Oddly, very few people assume it's humor first, and immediately leap to ALL CAPS MODE right away.

I totally agree!

Some basic statements on the internet tend to be misunderstood. That is the reason Just Kidding (JK), emoticons, etc have come about. Not only do I think emoticons are funny, they tend to help determine if a statement is a joke or if it was serious.

I don't post all that much but I do read information on this site almost every day. There is a lot of good information here...and a lot of good humor, joking, joshing, etc.

If people would try to determine if a comment was a friendly joke, before flaming someone, it would help keep the antagonism at lower levels. (I have noticed that most people on this site understand this.) The simple and quick use of an emoticon or identifier like “JK” can go a long way in helping to make the comment more understandable.

Those that have been on this site for awhile should also be a little more cautious. If someone is brand new, they may want to wait a few before they start in on the heavier good humor bashing.

Then there are those that are just so thin-skinned that they can’t take any joking without being offended. Those individuals should simply find another site or spend their time reading rather than posting.

I haven't scrolled down to read every post except for this very top one and I have no idea whats going on. Been too busy working on my house all summer. And until I get to the bottom of this thread, anyone care to chime me in on whats going on? :dunno:

Well, that does not bother me for the reasons stated earlier, plus the fact that I am fairly laid back, and, sadly, except for the long stories, often by the time I get through with telling what is wrong with something, it is redundant because someone else has beaten me to it.

Nothing really specific that I know of Westy, nobody was beaten with a ban stick or anything.
