A VT Build

been there done that  Thats how I got the 82 2wd 1 ton....

It's slow but it's pretty easy with the 4,000lb come along I have.

I actually like it cause it's so slow, there's no surprises.

Got ambitious and decided to pull out some buried parts, motor was way in the back corner of the garage behind 'everything' and the TPI was in a box under a bunch of others...

Both were right were I left em for safe keeping though.

There is a difference between bling and simply well-detailed, and nicely finished. I'm sure even if it doesn't sparkle the final effect will still be an impressive and clean look.

:usaflag:

It would but it's probably gonna be more anti-bling, truth be known. :dunno:

Maybe some old school M/T alloy valve covers...maybe.

Definitely not talking bling, fresh coat of paint and something more vintage like for the valve covers like you mention would be perfect. Just enough so when the hood is popped, you know your looking at something other than just a replacement engine. Course the TPI will be kind of a dead give away.

Quick update:

No real progress due to a home kitchen renovation that's currently going on, getting closer though, the cabinets arrive next week.

One bright note however is that the footers for the garage are being poured next week too.

Have been digging into the blazer build fund to buy parts and tools a little bit.
*Body mounts arrived
*DIY parts shipped on Friday

Went a little crazy at the tool store buying stuff for the home reno.
Makita contractors table saw that folds down and rolls away for storage.
Couple high quality levels.
Set of adjustable/foldable metal saw horeses and a single roller stand.

Also stopped by the shop to meet up with a local rep for a plasma cutter demo and yeah...bought that too.

Good to go now, I can cut wood or metal all day long. :haha:

Stay tuned...

Custom shackle flip. Hmmmmm sounds familiar. Nice touch. Now get to work and start putting all that cool stuff from Kert on the truck!

Looks like the side for the bottom of the frame isn't notched. You'll need to cut one to clear the gas tank straps. Post #8 in my build has the details for what I had to do.

Yeah okay, I got the idea from seeing yours, thanks.

No straps being used, I'm going to transfer the fuel cell from the blue blazer to this one.

Glad to know that I inspired somebody, and I wasn't just copying stuff everyone else had already done.

Cool. As I was walking back to the PC just now, I was wondering whether or not you'd go fuel cell.

Picked up a little bling, not too much though...

I've got the exact same covers. They polish up nice and aren't too flashy.

If I hadn't found these it would of been some old school M/T's going on.

'Low key flash'...if ya know what I'm sayin'.

Just scored a soft top for it too!
Got a tip from another board member. :smirk:

Thanks AJ. :waytogo:

We break ground for the new garage today.
That's been the reason for zero blazer build progress lately, doing some major reno's around the home sted.
A new kitchen for the wifey and some man space for me, decent deal eh? :D

A few goodies have landed though despite the home renovation's.

*torque converter for the 700r
*Lock-up kit for above tranny
*TPI serp set up
+ Not here yet but paid for are:
Some bling alloy valve covers
STC soft top

^ All new/used from other CK5 members, all great deals too. :waytogo:

New parts from DIY:
*shackle flip w/4.5" shackles
*engine cross member w/motor mounts
*14BFF disc mount kit
