Time to build myself a driver. :D

The build is focused on being an all around 'fun' driver with the capacity to go off road if the impulse strikes yet be comfy/dependable for a good long highway ride when the road calls.

Parts I'm using and already have:
'69 tub from Cali
TBI'd 355 crate motor - 700r w/241
Dana 60 & 14BFF w/4:56's, Detroit in the rear
37" MTR's on a set of H2's

Things still to get but decided on:
PRP seats
Spray in sound deaden-er
DOM tubing for the full cage
Cowl induction hood
Alcan spring set

If I was to do that I would skip on the TBI (batch fire) :o
I would aim higher, get a sequential fire EFI setup, like TPI or aftermarket MPFI. Your fuel millage will be better and your performance will increase. To me TBI is just a glorified carberator :D
BBC would be more fun :deal:
And whats with the slushbox :dunno: Drop a NV4500 5speed in that puppy mated toa NP205 and be done :saweet:
Good Morning :D

C'mon, just say what ya mean already Burt. :haha: 'sides, I like them kinda boxes.

These parts I already own, didn't I mention the 'budget' part?

I do however also own a pretty sexy Vette TPI set up that's been ported out to deliver up to 6K rpm though.

hahaha :haha:
It allways boils down to money...suks!
I have never wheeled an auto so my brain goes right to manual everytime hehehe
Good Luck and take pics :D

Sweeeet. Finally getting time to work on your own stuff again? Did you decide on the spring setup yet?

Guess we'd better snap a few pics this weekend so that you've got the "BEFORE" shots...

I'm thinking a lot more about this weekend already, than I am about my desk job.

:usaflag:

Yep, 6" Alcan front and maybe a set of zero rates to move the axle forward if necessary and some 3" in the rear (if Alcan will do a custom lift) and again possibly another set of the big Z's, with a shackle flip.

I hear ya on the work thang, all I've done all day is blazer stuff...:doah:

Trailer's all ready loaded...:D

There shouldn't be any reason they couldn't build you a 3" spring. Also consider having them move the spring pin back to help recenter the rear axle after the flip.

Cool, didn't know they'd do that.

How much would you/did you need to move yours to get it centered?

I didn't know it either until I read Rene's for sale thread when he was selling his. They're custom building them right? It's all a matter of where they drill the hole for the pin.

I have my axle pushed back as far as my DIY4X perches would let me...1 1/2 inches. It could probably stand to move another inch back to center it up. That's about the only thing differently I would have done build-wise up to this point. So....if I had to do it all over again, I would have had Alcan move the pin back an 1 1/2", and then tweak it with the perches. I'd think you don't wanna move the pin itself too far, cuz then you're affecting how the spring arches.

It's home, it's a roller but it wasn't easy.

Started the day with one bare blazer frame, one blazer tub sitting on a 67 2wd panel truck frame that itself was sitting on a trailer, set of one-ton axles also on a trailer, a big pile of parts needing to be installed.

The idea was to consolidate it all into one package, in one day.

The whole point was to make it a roller, so we did whatever we had to do at the time.

*Greg already had the frame in the garage with the stolen parts from his blazer already mounted up. (shackle flip)
*We also needed some front shackles, so out came the plasma cutter...done.
*Rear spring pack got mounted and all was going great until it was discovered someone forgot to bring the D60 upper plates for the u-bolts. :doah:...yep, more thieved parts from the dormant blazer.
Unfortunately one of the bolts from Greg's D60 galled coming out and it turned out that both bolts were to long anyway being my spring pack is shorter...off to the hardware store.

At this point we were both wondering if this was how the entire day was going to go...

Progress went really smooth from there until it rained...HARD.
Still, we got it done and loaded all in one day.

Dayum! That's a ton of work for one day. Nice job.

So, uhhhh....how's you get it on your trailer?
