A VT Build

It looks like all the printing on the wall insulation is facing the same way..... like a guy after my own OCD heart! :D

:usaflag:

Those aren't bling, those are tasteful valve covers - bling is something over-the-top, flashy, in my book. I dig those valve covers - simple design, great looking.

Thanks YJ,
I agree with ya, their basic but look nice.

TPI serp belt assembly mock up time.

The great thing about finally putting things back 'on' the blazer is all the new found space I gain with every huge box I empty.

That's going to be a great motor - reliable, good mpg, good power - can't really ask for much more than that!

Don't mind me, I'm living vicariously through your project :-)

Vicary away...have fun with it. :smirk:

The bigger reason for the new part is the D60 "known" steering issue with DW, just don't care to have it happen at speed on the highway.

So when I swap in the Dana 60 that I picked up a while back, is that likely to be an issue with my 35 x 12.5 SSR's. I've never driven anything with a Dana 60 before.

SWEEEEEEEEEEET!!!!

Are them Ballistic. Sorry can't quit read them. I wanted to do the high steering on the yellow mud blazer. But for now i'm just doing crossover steering. I'll add the other later. Jason

Yep, their Ballistic.
I really like the spring delete aspect of em.

I'm waiting on the high steer arm for now too but wanted to get both sides done at the same time.

"May As Well" build a real axle.

*Warn hub lockout set
*ARB diff cover
*4340 alloy 35 spline outers w/full circle clips

So...

After tearing the axle down further I found more 'stuff' I need to replace.
Turns out it needed pretty much, well...everything, bearings, seals, rotors and lower king pins parts.

Don't know about the calipers yet but I'm betting their crap too.

No such thing as a "cheap" Dana 60 install is there?

Can we assume you're putting an ARB in the 60?

Not yet but at some point possibly down the road.

Liked the function & protection the cover offered, main reason for getting it.

• High tensile nodular iron protects the differential and ring & pinion set from off road obstacles
• Computer optimised cross brace design increases the structural rigidity of the whole axle
• Additional housing strength helps keep the ring & pinion gears meshing on the flat faces of the teeth, greatly increasing ring & pinion life and overall maximum load strength
• Prolonged carrier bearing life due to extra support to the bearing alignment
• Approach/departure angle optimised by angled exterior surfaces
• Recessed high tensile cap screws (supplied) for protection against obstacles which might damage or loosen them
• Low profile drain plug design resists damage from obstacles
• Unique dipstick/filler cap design allows differential oil level to be adjusted for customised high driveline angles
• Combination of the high filler point and dipstick allows the oil to be checked for water contamination without having to drain the oil
• Top quality, high power neodymium magnets are used in both the drain plug and the dipstick to collect metallic wear particles as the vehicle moves
• Magnet location in the end of the dipstick allows the oil to be checked for tell-tale signs of internal damage
• Cover is powder coated, CNC machined, then clear coated for a durable, professional, long lasting finish, hardware is zinc plated.

Whoa, Extreme Axle Sales ships fast!

D60 parts are here already, gives me the whole weekend to play!

Got the axle torn down, hope to POR the parts over the holidays.

Have you bought the HUGE hex wrench for removing those kingpins yet???

IIRC it's about 600Lb/Ft to remove them.....long breaker bar, colorful language! :D
