Adjustable proportioning valve for disc brake swapped 14FF questions.

well @bnow48 that is your call... if I had to start over with a new project truck my list goes... 1 tons, gears, detroits, xover steering, rear disc...

when I was younger and had 33s on my truck.. I had to nail my brakes on the highway @70mph.. my rear locked up and slid out from under me. Almost wiped out.. now I'm on rear disc and stock everything.. I have not done an adjustable prop valve.. I can fly down the road and nail my brakes and they do not lock up but they stop very hard. I like that as it feels they are breaking right before they should lock up...

to each is their own and from the mud and goo that I get in my drums, disc is just way easier for some things...

Well thank you Boys and Girls! Your discussions on Proportioning valves, adjusting and non and and the thought of replacing everything from the back wheels to the firewall, has made me understand that my old drum brakes will do fine for slipping around the bee yards in wet weather! I cut my teeth on doing brake jobs on drum brakes and still have all the specialty tools needed to make it easier. Now I can use the money saved for some other goodie?
I've been extremely happy with the discs in the rear. Removed the factory combo valve, T'd the front lines straight from the MC, in-line Wilwood prop valve from the MC to the rear line and it stops on a dime.

I had a similar issue in HS and the rear came around when on black ice and I rolled. It was due to a failed factory prop valve not sending fluid correctly to give proper front/rear bias. It all depends on the intended use of the truck and what the builder wants. I like discs but some vehicles just don't need them.
