Air intake options

"Cold" outside air is absolutely worth it, but no reason to go overboard on a dual setup if you are running a 450cfm throttle body, mild cam, small port heads, etc. IMO.
nah, feeding something a bit north of that

Ultimately having it “push” air in from a higher pressure area is desirable. Not thinking of buying a cowl hood to do it

These always looked slick. Probably flow more that a modified stock unit with a second snorkel added to it. Kinda pricey even at summit. Spectre part. View attachment 374891
Looked at this, and they have a dual feed like the one @mrk5 posted. Kind wish this was for a 4” filter, and the bottom looks hokie. Definitely needs a salad bowl mod

Back in my diesel days there was an air intake that required you to cut a 4.5” howl in the cowl and it would suck air from the windshield cowl. It was the only intake around proven to increase power, torque, and lower egt’s. Sounded pretty wicked when the turbo lit off also. Wouldn’t be terribly difficult to do.

Found something else. Looks promising as they sell a kit for '73-'95 GM trucks.

RAM AIR BOX

Sent an email. See what they recommend for an angry small block...

Nofockno. Never cared for that look. Just like to make sure to feed this thing fresh air. Also noticed a bit more dirt in the throttle body than I’d like, so the old set up is gone

Plus I don’t want the BBC kids getting the best of me...

Yeah, I'm messin with you. I'm not a fan of snorkels at all. But I thought it was pretty funny.

I agree these need all the fresh air they can get. It's why I was pretty excited to find the cold air inlet on my '91 core support I need to install.

I'd say your small block is rowdy enough to keep up with the BBC crowd.

Doing some MPG tracking as well, hopefully get some improvement that’s measurable. Figure most things are an improvement on an open element sucking warm air

Looks like what my dad made in 74 in his 73 with a 454. Said it helped when driving across the southern california desert with an 8' camper and a 24' long trailer, with 2 dune buggies and 5 motorcycles on it.
