also picked up shocks as well.
still waiting for the Fuel Nuts to come is so I can keep the 91 running. Have to pull it into the shop and drop the transmission. Reverse is out. 91 might go up for sale if I pick up the impala. not sure yet. depends on how much trouble I get for bringing home another project. :-)
 
Link shows error? I'd be interested to know the number of leaves. Too bad they don't print the spring rates so it would be easier for people to decide what to get, eh?
 
Now I need to decide on front seats. do some body work and decide if I am going to do a full wrap or paint. also have a spare 4l80e that also needs rebuilt that I thought of dropping in with the newer motor. however, not in a big rush to do that yet. still have to plan out what I want. it drives now without diving all over the place. It should as once I get the springs in 95% of the suspension will be new.
 
Been trying to get the passenger side spring out for the last 3 hours. I am thinking that the previous owner might have smacked something on that side. lower shock bolt was a bit of a bear to get out as well. been working on the front eye bolt with an impact wrench and hitting the end with a hammer. About ready to get the saw out and cut the bolt. I think the inner sleeve has bound up. any suggestions?

Luckily, I kept the old shackles from my 87 Jimmy when I lifted it years ago. They fit fine. Not sure if all of the Burbs have the bigger bolt or not.

Wjackson, My rear shackle bolts are bigger as well. It looks the like shackles on the buggy I got with the 91 are smaller. however it looks like the length is 5 3/4 long and the burb is 6 inches. not sure if a 1/4 inch is going to be a big deal.

Also, when grabbing some stuff out of the tool box I found a spare fuel nut that I think is for the return side. else I just moved the spare inlet to a new location. need to start getting some bins to label and put everything in.
 
so the lift saga continues. finial got the rear blocks in. the U bolts that came with the kit did not fit. they were too narrow. Napa had the correct size so picked them up and got them in. shocks now are giving me heart burn. the mounts on the top do not look like they are removable and no one seems to have just the bolt. not sure if I ordered the wrong part???

WJackson, Did you run into any issues with the rear end? did you replace shocks or keep your old one?
 
I put in the shocks that I had on my Jimmy. They already had the bolts in them so I can't help ya there.

Not sure why the rear shackle bolt was different. I just happen to have some stock shackles and bolts off of my Jimmy as well. The very reason why I never throw anything away:doah:. I've had those shackles and shocks for probably 7 years.

I ordered the same kit as you, but I was putting in 1 ton axles, so I didn't use the ubolts. I also didn't order new shocks, I already had some.
 
So Install of the lift is complete. Things I ran into with this kit.
Front springs pre 90 have a smaller bolt size on the rear eyelet.
Using rear shackles from pre 90 will work but the shackles thickness is less and the length of the bolt pattern is ½ inch less
Had to cut the front eyelet bolt as it was frozen in the bushing. (nothing to do with the kit)
Rear U bolts were the wrong size. Replaced with Napa part number XXX
Upper shock bolts were not removable from the old shocks. Could not find a part from any of the auto parts store. Found replacement on an old frame I had laying around.

Over all ride is a little stiff but that can be expected with a new install. No squeaks or strange sounds. Only thing left is to replace the front sway bar bushing. Noticed they were pretty much none existent. Just waiting on them to arrive.

Whole suspension and breaks are now replaced. Only think I have not done is to check the gears in the diffs. No odd sounds coming from them so no reason to think there is anything wrong.
Might drop the covers and at least replace the fluids.

these were the shock blots that were holding up progress. not sure if I was using the wrong terminology or that they do not make them anymore. I do have to find one more as I have one missing on the 91 burb

Need to take a pic with someone standing next to the truck for scale.

came with the burb. you like them? I am not sure I am going to keep them. have stock rims and some 17s that I might use.
 
Oh no, I am far from liking them. Just never saw them till now. I even had to go back through the thread and look. Not a big deal, just made me chuckle.

Yours sits a lot more level than mine turned out. You running just the blocks in the rear? I guess my rear springs are worn out more.
 
yes. I just have the blocks and new shocks. will have to look at the other burb to see if it has a helper spring added.
