All things Drag Racing.

I’d love to be able to provide something productive over your belt quandary. But seeing as I can’t properly belt myself in a 4pt harness without looking like a giant baby in a baby seat, I’m probably not much help.

New belts are probably a wise choice.
Yeah you probably need a 5 point...
:whistle::pimp:

They’re actually sold as a 5 point set now adays to meet the SFI 16.1 and 16.2
Not sure when that changed, but the old sets were 4
I guess the smiley didn't help convey the joke.
I know 5 points are the norm now.
He was saying a 4 point will not fit him so I suggested one size bigger... 5 point.
Too bad this post is too serious for some to see the joke.
Sorry for interrupting

Please add and discuss.

I have some concerns over the belts I have:

I bought Racequip belts at the start of the season. The stitching and webbing seems ok, but the lap belts slip.
the tie in at the cage and floor are both doubled back around the 2 slot paddles
Now in and of itself, slip is ok for one reason: none of the edges are sharp enough to "grab" the belt, which may cut them (or not, it's a thought)
The knurling is not very pronounced, and it doesn't get a proper purchase on the belt
They would need to supply additional 2 slot belt paddles though. So when you run the belt around the knurled end of the latches, then you can capture the belt and lock in in place

I typically save the old belts. I rob them of hardware all the time, and even use them for pulling engines

I will likely buy another set of one of these belts though that I have used previously:
RJS
Simpson
Crow
RCI
Stroud
I have Impact in my car, really like them, USA made, excellent hardware and adjustments, I just get them re-webbed when needed. The cam lock are worth the price. I also like that the cam lock is on the right side, not the sub harness. Because then on the street for just cruising I use it like a 4 point. And at the track where I go fast I use the sub belt too to complete the 5th point. However, some brands the sub is the cam lock, and you can't do that.

I liked the RJS unit I installed in my Dad's 36 drag truck, very nice, especially for the price. Can't go wrong with RJS belts.

I can get it, but I don't like the Racequip stuff, it's all china made, and I don't think safety equipment is a place you want to skimp. However, its definitely better than not using safety equipment if it fits the budget.

Stroud is excellent too, I have a Stroud parachute and window net, great quality, USA made.

I opted for the RJS. Mostly because I liked that set (and any of those I mentioned I have used)
Nice hearing @fastazz81 has wrecked with the ones he listed. Real world tests! :haha:

Man he lifted, corrected and hammer down. Still won, whistling all the way.

You Drag Week guys might want to think about picking up this monster. I watched it run on Drag Week and RMRW 1.0. Really nice setup and it comes with a trailer! How can you beat that? Besides we are on CK5 right? Plus it's in Colorado Springs so it's really close for somebody to check out... *cough-bent-cough*
