All things Drag Racing.

Well, they raced for $30k on Friday, my cousin got down to the semi final, I think 7 cars left or something, two of my uncles were left the round before that out of 256 cars. I didn't go Friday. I was going to go Saturday but it was rained out all day.

I didn't enter my car because it was $900 to enter all 3 races and I'm not donating $900 because I can't go double 0 and dead on 8 times in a row spread out throughout the day. I don't have enough seat time.

So on Sunday I went and they combined the $100K with the last $30K and raced for $130K!

My uncle went all the way to the final round out of 256 cars and got runner up! Was a good day! The ole Vette was set on kill and he was .00 something nearly every round on the tree. I watched him run dead on his dial (5.95 on a 5.95) 4 times in a row! He's 71 so he showed the young guns how it's done that day!

They got done last night and started driving straight to Michigan for the races this week there.

Some pics and vids to follow...

My cousin Nick in his Cobalt. They built this car about 15 years ago and have raced it in a few classes in both NHRA and bracket racing. He has a lot of wins in that thing.

Fun fact, he is one of only 5 or 6 drivers in history to win national events in 6 different NHRA classes, and he's only 42.

If you want to watch a pro bump into the staging beams and then run a double 0 and dead on this is him getting it done...

I just realized in this picture I took yesterday, that you can not only see the Folk Race Cars sign in the background, but also my Volcano Manifolds sign right behind it. Total coincidence, but pretty cool really! I didn't realize that until just now when reviewing the pics and vids I took yesterday.

I didn't video any of the dragsters because they don't have the character of the door cars. They are fast, but make it look to easy on the launch.

My cousin Brian in the Cavalier. Uncle Ron and him built that car in the 80s, won the first race he entered the car in, and a bunch of other races for 20 years or so, then sold it. 2 years ago they got it back in trade toward a new race car! Brian got down to 6 cars with it on Friday...

I was guessing longer. Those cars are unfortunately too expensive anymore to modify. Was it already a race car when he got it?

I don't remember Martin, I'll ask. Randy moved to Florida about 20 years ago from the midwest where the rest of us are, he bought that car down there so the first time I saw it it was already a race car.

@ the SFG 50k race today..

The whole clan should be there Zim, several door cars, multiple dragsters. Including Nick's new all carbon body full suspension dragster they just built from scratch.

So my father said he bought that years ago as a roller project someone had already started. He finished it, raced it, sold it, and then bought it back later. I've just only seen it the last 10 years or so.

@folkenheath
Talked w Randy briefly and met Briana. He said she went .008 on the tree and .799 on an .80 dial….

Saw the all carbon fiber dragster…no paint or wrap right? Looks cool in the sun!

Also….
Cobalt won rd. 3 !

Brianna is my youngest first cousin by a long margin. ;)

There is no paint or wrap on that dragster, just VP Fuel and Lubricant stickers, along with a couple other sponsors, right on top the carbon.

Bracket racing is way more fun when you know the people racing, have fun Zim!

Nick won 4th round, then we left. Didn't see Randys Vette run at all?
