If you did not spin at all then you are correct, stickier tires won't fix that. I apologize, I was under the impression you spun whenever you raised your launch RPM. But you know how you are driving it.
What RPM can you hold it without pushing through the brakes?
It does seem like you are right on the edge of spinning, but if you had a pass where you didn't spin and you floored it immediately on the launch then you are correct, that pass won't improve with tires, you would just get that pass more consistently with better tires.
Now if you are feathering the throttle at all on the launch then stickier tires would let you floor it immediately, and then improve your 60.
If you can completely hook sometimes with those tires, then maybe you do have a whimpy converter?
It is possible to not think you are spinning and improve 60 ft though. When my tires get wore out they still feel like they are hooking, but the 60 ft drops off, not quite a tenth. New tires and the 60 ft picks back up again. They still have tread depth left in the indicators, but once they have so many passes the sidewall goes away, or the stickiness fades off after 2 -3 years regardless of passes.
