All things Drag Racing.

Lost in 4th round to this Bad ass 1971 Chevelle SS clone running a 421 small block. Not only did he take out Kert but he went to the final in the no box class and won, he also had a final round runoff against the box class and he beat them too. Oh yeah he Footbraked it and tree’d the guy and won winning two grand tonight !
More racing later this morning!

Today we went out first round.
Qualifying slowed to a 9.82. Dialed a 9.81 Kert got him on the tree but car slowed 9.90….with still pretty consistent 1.24-1.27 60’.
Density altitude was about 3500’.
Lost the round by .006 package.
Overall we felt pretty good after a 12 hr thrash changing head gaskets Saturday.

My cousin Nick runnered up in another race, this time in the new Dragster they built from scratch. Fully chrome-moly chassis they built with 4 link rear and also front suspension which is still rare in a dragster, and a carbon fiber body.

The crazy thing is he had entered it twice (some races allow that so racers have double the chances of winning something). Anyway, he got down to the finals on the dragsters, with both entries! He had won like 16 times in a row or something like that to do that. So since he couldn't race himself he basically got an automatic win that round into the final with the last door car.

Speaking of Alex Taylor did you see she is now co-hosting Hot Rod Garage with Lucky Costa? Two episodes in...and they are hilarious together!

Clay Millican is has such a positive energetic personality that he always makes it fun. We need more people like that. I remember when he used to race the IHRA circuit over a decade ago and he was the same way.

Watched some at lunch. Fin fragged the new hemi, Freiburger’s hemi gremmie is donating its fresh hemi to the cause.

I did catch a really nice looking 80’s red K20 on 6” of lift almost yank the rear diff out from wheel hop on the launch.

It's something I wanted participate in once some year. When I first built my car it would of gotten 2nd place in the street N/A category(based on it's ET) despite it's heavy weight. But its always during my wife's birthday and right now she is on a work trip.

I thought about going to Byron wed, because my brother and father will be there. But by the time I get there after dropping the kids off at school it would be about 10 o clock, so I would drive 4 hours almost to see 2 hours of racing. Still might do it. The last time I saw drag week in person was at the Grove about a 5 years ago. Its fun to see true street rides battling it out instead of so called "street cars" that don't even have radiators.

Bummer that Fin blew the hemi. It only had a couple passes. Also found it interesting that Tony Angelo is co driving. He did famously bench press the trans back when Fin won the event. Just wonder what the people at MT think. Tony out, Alex Taylor in at hot rod garage and Fins got his own you tube show with Tony riding shotgun.

Made it to Indy tonight, havent seen but a couple cars on the streets, none in the parking lot, where last year there was about a dozen? Must have heard I was going to be here!
Racing starts at 8am tomorrow!
Heath come on to Byron, last year they ran right up til 2pm.
Text me when you get there!

I'll let you know if I go, I'm still on the fence, because I would have to turn around an leave at 1 to go pick the kids up again. With almost 4 hours of driving round trip it doesn't leave much time from a 7 hour school day.
