Allis-Chalmers tractor purchase. Now, The Old Tractor thread. Post yours.

I don't remember if I posted any pictures of my garden tractor "collection" here or not...here are my "small" tractors...

They all get used ,well, most of them anyways...
Blue one in the first photo is my "mowing" tractor,a '70 Sears Suburban.
There are two orange and white ones,a '67 and a '68,the '68 is the one with the snowblower (which unfortunately suffered catastrophic gear box failure during a blizzard last January, and parts are NLA new)..

It now has a John Deere plow I converted into a scoop bucket on it,I took the snowblower off it--a winch lifts it...still haven't finished it,it only needs a contactor or up/down switch for the winch..
I have used it some with jumper cables on the winch to the battery to move some heavy objects around,a NP205 was lifted like nothing, but it needs more weight in the rear,it was bouncing the rear tires when I moved the tractor..it has only 100lbs of weight, wheel weights, and me on the seat...it'll lift up about 2 feet high, not quite enough to put something in my truck bed...

I also have a 1978 GT19.9 Sears Suburban with an Onan BF series 16 HP twin I'm still in the process of finishing--needs a fuel tank and an exhaust made up for it...its a gutsy beast, pops wheelies for 20+ feet if you let out the clutch carelessly....

The other blue Suburban is a '67 SS-12,it has a 6 HP Briggs now,it is my "yard mule" and "Bull" tractor...there hasn't been much I couldn't plow, pull,or push with it--I have dragged trees 30 feet long and a foot thick out of the woods with it many times,in first gear low range,it tops out at .75 mph,it pulls like a winch you can ride on!...
I adapted the spike rake to the dozer blade to make easy work out of moving branches and pine needles,it works very well..

I'd like to have a bigger tractor with a loader again someday--one with P/S and down pressure and 4wd preferably...lately winters have been rougher here, many storms over 2 feet happen often, and even my pickup cant keep up with the drifts sometimes with the high winds we get...it would be nice to be able to load the snow and dump it out of the way...

I would be tempted to not use a 4x4 truck to plow if I had a 4x4 loader--you dont have to register or insure a tractor, and the town cant fine you for having one sitting in the yard, but they can if its a truck that isn't road legal...

This is recent? How are you guys already done with snow melt off? :dunno:

It was this past Saturday, 4-7-18, but it was at Kewanna, IN. It was a 4.5 hour drive for me.
The snow at home is mostly gone, but we did get a dusting of snow overnight.

Nice pictures.

I'm partial to the ZA model in the middle. One series older than my beloved ZB. Way overbuilt for a 25HP tractor. In a good way. :waytogo:

See!!

I knew fresh tractor pictures were imminent

Ah. Here's my new tractor. Not much to look at, but it sure beats the old one.

It got a float bowl and a new needle. Surprisingly, it's a strong runner with just a spray-can cleaning of the jets. But I'll take it.

Simple old updraft and side-draft carburators are fun in a way that quadrajets never were.
