A little project that @campfire doesnt like to mark my returning from a Hiatus.

Ended up loosing both rear inner drive tires on a Friday so new ones were ordered. And in the mean time I worked on resealing the exhaust manifold and deleting the muffler from under the hood of th 5488. And what better way to top if off than with a free chrome pipe instead of the rusty 3 3/8" factory pipe.















Getting the 5" stack on took a little creativity but it was well worth it in the end. The greatest expense of the stack was the cans of VHT flame proof paint and primer.

Never thought of building a pipe adapter that way. Of course I also don't have a good way to bend a circle like that out of rod either. Chrome stack for the win!!! I bet that sucker sounds good now.

Weld one end of the round bar to the pipe, heat bar and bend around pipe, cut at desired length and weld.

Call me a curmudgeon, but I prefer the black stack.

A 5488 is a cool looking tractor though.

I figured that way would work but his didn't look like it had been heated with a torch and it's a nice smooth radius. Guess I better try it out here at work and see.

Call me a hater too. But I agree, a chrome stack on a 50 series just doesn't look right.

It sounds very very good now, a good deep bellow and plenty of turbo whistle as well. It was nice to have an idea in my head work out so well in execution. Poor people have poor ways!

That's exactly how I did it! torch is even visible in one of the photos.

I'd have likely left the factory stack on it but its heavily pitted with dents and is just plain ugly. I had this 5" one that I yanked out of the dumpster at work. Keeping cost down was key with this project after getting hit for $250 at the dealer for all the other parts plus around $3000 in tires

C with a super C big bore sleeves, 26 HP. When I bought it the engine had been about 20+ year's so I rebuilt it, was going to paint it someday but that day hasn't came yet.

Sweet! Are the receivers fixed, or do they pivot like the old quick-tatch hitches?

They're mounted pretty high up, and I don't see hydraulics. But it's worth asking.

The Genny has a plate on the bottom with two 2" receivers that slide in the tubes and the 1600 RPM mower pulley spins it.

A Farmall B would be big enough lawn mower, always thought it would be cool to put an engine out of the super C in a Farmall B.
