Aluminum dash

I want one of these dashes so bad... The only reason I'm waiting is because I know it will turn into a cascading mod. I'll want to do complete out my aftermarket guage set, then work on doing some rewiring of the truck, then install a tilt column.

When I do finally get one, I'll have to come up with a cool looking wrap for it.

Nice work as usual. :waytogo:
ok, so what's the hold up then??? :D

I didn't want one too bad before butnow I want one.

It would be nice to have this while driving around with no doors instead of the stock dash.

Anybody interested in matching aluminum door panels?

you mean for those sexy tube doors right :D

Not sure I would be into those or not, but I am a visual person so I will need to see some pics to judge :thumb:

I'll have to do up a set for the inside of my blazer full doors. Seems the doors get the hell beat out of them. Never had much use for the map pockets or whatever you call them. Maybe something a little more utilitarian can be designed. There is some space in the doors that could be taken advantage of. Especially if you figure in the amount of space the factory door panel wastes.

Ive always thought of doing a half door with basically the entire door gutted and space for storage. Put anything in there that you would need quick access to on the trail. IE extinguisher, strap, etc..........

Back when I used to think doors were necessary... I really wanted some aluminum panels! Go get after it Kert! :waytogo:

Dont forget speaker holes!

Pretty cool item you have there, just one question?
Would it pass the danger of hitting your head on it, I mean I offroad too and as a driver I got the steering wheel to cover me if I come in contact with it, but what about the passenger, I'm pretty sure he/she can knock the knob in and put a big dent in it and I'm going to the hospital after with a bleeding or unconcious passenger.
I wear my seatbelts too if you're wondering but do others do the same, I'm just a concern K/5 guy and hope that your dash is head proof and would pass safety standards without problems towards your product

Would it pass the danger of hitting your head on it,

that was my first thought.. my truck is/will be street legal and i dont want anything to get questioned...

and i put a chick in the hospital with a shattered knee.... back in 1992... coming down a hill (locals know it as dog-leg back little mill)....
i hit a rut that a truck with 44's was in and bounced up.... metal even thin doesnt give much...

i like the dash though... you could always buy one and put padding on some of it if concerned....

This post real pisses me off. If you don't think the dash is safe then don't buy one. If you "offroad" the same places I do then a full roll cage, suspension seats and 5point harnesses is minimum for "safety". It's comments like these that make vendors affraid to come up with new great products like the aluminum dash because some moron is gonna bump his head and sue. Do you really think hitting your head on the stock dash is going to be any better? Hitting your head on anything in a crash is going to hurt. So please do the world a favor and dont buckle up.

wow you all are attacking him when i also said i agree on asking if they did any thoughts on this....

I'll agree that OE manufacturers put padding on dashes for a reason BUT I can't see this product being any worse than folks that make a flat panel dash during a roll cage build.

Furthermore, how about the liability that each one of us assumes when we lift a truck or simply add stronger aftermarket bumpers? If a mod'd truck is involved in a crash chances are the truck would "win".

I'm not calling for anyone to quit or be banned, or for vendors like Kert to stop producing great products that obviously do have a market. It's up to us, the consumer, to use the product smartly and know what risks are involved.

It's kind of like the saying; guns don't kill people, people kill people.

no it is video games that make people use guns to kill people...

so it is the game manufacturers fault....... also im kidding.. hah..

i agree with you on the us as the consumer.....
