And it continues build thread. Dead.. sent to the scrapyard

Now that is a big change! Are you going to bob the back of the frame too? Your wheelbase should end up the same as a shortbed, but with slightly better entry and departure angles if you bob the back. It going to be pretty sweet. So when you are done you plan to make it look like a super shortbed from the side, but the bedsides will be just skins. It's going to be nice and light. What are you going to do for tanks, put in a fuel cell?

Plans for fuel are 17 Gal aluminum fuel cell and Inline pump. If everything works out I will end up only having to chop an inch off the frame in the rear :) I need to order some stuff from kert and start with the suspension, but that will be after the frame is finished. I should have the frame done tomorrow night, but thats only if I don't get distracted. My dad is planning on picking up a lifted 76 k5 on 36's tomorrow, and I may have to go pull it back.

cool stuff Jess, so with the new springs, how much farther back will the axle be, and what will the wheelbase be then?

Well the axle will be 6" farther back from the original mounting point. My final wheel base should be 118"

that sounds real good Jess, I'm only going to be at 110, but maybe some front end changes down the road will stretch it out more.

My goal was to get it a better turning radius. Making 5 point turns every 5 feet gets old fast! Hydro assist is on the todo list so that will make it easier but I feel like when I get done my rig will be on a whole new level.

You will like it. I am at 120 I love it.

Steering still sucks though because of the axle walking sideways. Just on normal road I can turn way sharp

Shortening the bed looks so cool, here is a pic of my truck a while ago when we shortnened the bedsides.

Obviously off a bit on the measurements but it ended up working good

You might be surprised at what 131" can do:whistle: I'm at 110.00 now and can only hope it will be as good as it was before.

Build is looking great.

Thanks I have a feeling within the next year my rig may look similar to yours. Those Sway a ways are tempting :whistle:

Just ordered 200 bucks worth of parts from kert :) All fab parts :)

Got started on fish plating today. Got the plates cut out. I know its way overkill but I wanted to do 1/4" plate but when I went in they had a pull of 3/8" for 10 bucks cheaper so I went for it. It worked out because I needed a bottom of my bender stand. Started welding the fishplates to the frame then ohh ohh ran out of 30 wire. No big deal I have a full spool of 35, but wait I can't find my 35 tips :doah::doah: Oh well looks like I'll have to finish it this week.

I never did on mine, going on 5 years of wheeling, 3 of those being very hard wheeling quite often

Good to hear... I was just wondering if it might start to crack on the top or bottom... :dunno:

From the pics I've seen of yours, I'm betting he's good to go...:waytogo:

Looking good Jess, did you recently weld to the inside of the cab too?
