I`ve yet to find out what these bolts are for. There are 4 total, 2 of them on either side of the timing cover, vertically, about an inch or so apart.

I don`t believe they`re for the P/S mount, as there are only 2 mounts for that, and they`re both on the head, right?

The later serpentine systems use those four bolts, as do some smog pump systems.

I think that at least one of those bolts will leak oil if you don't have it installed with thread sealant.

They are used in the bigger trucks (C60 & larger)to fasten the engine to a front motor plate ,the side motor mounts are not used in these applications.

not the best pic but are you talking about the ones on the head or the ones on the lower part of the block? i didnt use any of the 4 bolts IIRC when i installed my power steering pump last week.

So they`ll just stay there with no use? Sounds good to me.

I suppose I should pull them out and put sealant on them?

Am I correct in the sense that the P/S pump only mounts in 2 places, both on the head?

also the lower hole on the water pump's 2 mounting bolts. you need to use that one also.

no i could try and take some when i get home. i cant remember how i took it off (put it back on 6 months later) so after scratching my head for a bit what i ended up doing was

upper bolt used a nut for a spacer on the back side
used a spacer for the bracket that goes over the headers

then the thru water pump bolt i just put a nut on the end and reached from underneath and tighten with a wrench. (may be a bitch to take off if the motor is in the truck)

IIRC thats it for the bolts

Ive found use for at least one of them, the one on the outside of the passenger side. you can install a long enough bolt and use it to hold the fuel pump pushrod up out of the way while installing a new fuel pump. just dont forget to take it back out before you try starting it.:D

Ok. I bolted the top two mounts to the head, found a spacer to use (which I believe came off of there anywho).

I don`t see how the bottom mounts up. I see no way for it to mount to water pump. There is however a stud on the back of the pump.

Here`s a few pics. Without the bottom mounted, the pump is really close to the block.

stock power steering brackets suck, especially the ones that use the exhaust mainfold bolt.

That space is taken up by the cast iron exhaust manifold. If you are going to use headers, you have to make a spacer for that.

I`d use the March one, but I`m not sure if it will work with the hydroboost pump.

Can anyone confirm it will?

yeah, I know about that. I shouldv`e clarified my question. I don`t know how the bottom of the P/S pump mounts, as I see no where for it to go. I do see a stud on the back of the pump near the bottom, but no where for it to go.

If I were using this pump on my March brackets,, then yes it would work fine.. I removed the stud on the back of the pump and replaced it with a thin spacer and M10 bolt.

One of the brackets in the kit will bolt onto the back of the pump,,the other will bolt to the front,,these two brackets pivot on a open casting hole of the water pump.

the third bracket ( the main adjuster arm will bolt thru the water pump mounting bolts on the right side of the pump.

If you need a pic of my set up I can take one tonight and post it up....
