We got our hauler back tonight though........ Nothing like a 100ton haul truck with a gooseneck trailer lol! It's a 777 Cat converted to puller. hauls the D11s around on.

They had one of those at the Kayenta mine....Can't remember the truck model # for sure but I think it was a 789. The trailer was "ramped" on one side so the dozer could walk right up on it.

The fact of the matter is, they need tradesmen up here and are willing to pay. There is so much expansion on the books that this is how it is right now.

when the contract rolls over in Feb, J-man rate will be $55.09 The fact of the matter is, they need tradesmen up here and are willing to pay. There is so much expansion on the books that this is how it is right now.

Hey no prob. I'm a supporter of alberta resources. The oilsands gets oil out if the ground with shovels and trucks, instead of a drilling rig and pumps. It's a unique place where oilfield and mining come together.

Theres nothing on the planet that's harder on machines than oilsands. For instance, cutting edges on a 24H grader in the winter will last 1 day. Dozer undercarriages 4 months.

Do they have there own Power Plant at the mine our are they conected to the grid?

We are not on the grid. This site produces oil, diesel, and coke as a byproduct. power gen burns the coke. The big shovels are all electric, 13,800 volts. And of course all the plants usage.
