Another hurdle to jump at inspection time..

My tires on my truck over 6 years old. No cracking or dry rot and still plenty of tread. I don't plan on replacing them any time soon.

You were smart to get out of MA,its a toss up whether its worth living here any more, between the weather, high taxes, and the attitudes of the people who live here ..
--its getting to be a police state more so than ever here, and this new proposed "law" will once again make the guys doing inspections the "car police" ,I'm sure they dont like that one bit.

--I remember a few years ago when we had to have dyno tests done,to do an emission test, they were going to link the inspectors computer right to the RMV,and while they were doing the inspection, the RMV's computer base would scan the persons identity for wants and warrants--and they wanted the garage guy to HOLD the customer there, until the cops got there to arrest them!..

There was a big stink over the whole proposal, the inspection garages protested, many gave up doing stickers period (it cost them 150K for the dyno and licence to do inspections,no profit there really!)---and I guess they ended up scrapping that idea--not many garages relished the idea of having their lives put at risk, just to make like 5 bucks off each inspection--or doing the cops job!..can you imagine working at a shop doing inspections, and ending up having some felon put a gun to your head when you inform him its your "job" to hold him there till the cops show up,because your computer ratted him out?...

While I'm sure they will say "its for the public safety's own good",I disagree--people will borrow "good" tires and go get a sticker, then come home and put the "illegal" tires back on..and Chevy 305 may be right--I dont doubt tire retailers are backing this plan, after all, they stand to make a killing...probably in bed with the politicians...next thing they'll want to do if this passes ,is raise the cost of "tire disposal" from 5 bucks to 25 at the dump probably too--or force us to use only nitrogen to fill tires,or some other stupidity...maybe they'll just mandate no one can own an "old" car or truck soon, anyone who cant afford one less than 10 years old,can just walk instead...:dunno:

Might be grandfathered law any vehicle over 10 years old might be exempt. Idk but that would make sense. Wait we are talking about politicians and they are dumb as .... how do you afford that on 8 bucks an hour or even 12. Oh thats right politicians dont pay for there tires we do. Vote there asses out

must be one of them made in china tires. but i think they all are

Heard today on the radio, that the RMV fees are indeed going up--supposed to release the details in a few weeks.....

They need revenue to "clear up a 55 million dollar defecit" in their budget..

If cops would pull over and ticket people yapping on cell phones like they are supposed to,they would probably have 100 million in surplus...! (its "illegal" to use one while vehicle is moving, but it rarely gets enforced)..
I hope they dont jack the fees up too much,I thought 75 bucks for a title was a ripoff...and 50 to renew a licence or get plates...

Wow 55 mil is alot. You'd have to tax a lotof pot t cover it. Pueblo made 1 mil in tax revenue. In one month with a populaion of about 150k
