Anti-Theft Devices You Use...

I know but would'nt be a great one.

One option is to hold the electric switch doen while cranking and have that cable tapped to the starter or a kill switch for the starter

I guess. My door locks/switches/actuators get enough abuse with my keyless entry already.

That, and having to use 2 hands to start the truck sounds like it would suck. in DD and offroad duty.

Ok there are lots of options out there.

Lets keep this post alive, this is for everyone here

Sorry if that came across as negative, just trying to bounce ideas back and forth.

Also trying to keep each other from wiring ideas that may turn into a mess.

But yes, positive. Looking around for stock switches you don't use, or do use (lights, turn signals, etc.) as a kill isn't a bad idea.

Whatever we can do to keep these things from getting stolen. Also, whatever you can do that is easy enough that you will actually use it. The most elaborately protected trucks probably get stolen when the owner thought it would be fine for 30 seconds.....

Dont worry.
Yes i agree keep it simple dont want to get drunk or forget and have to mess with all the wiring.

I once thought of a seat activated thingy but i think is not a good idea

I use a Peddle Lock under the clutch peddle lock...might get it started but won't be able to put in gear. Very open to other measures to keep it safe.

right now my truck is open headers, I cant see them getting far in my town considering they have to drive right by the sherriff's station to leave my neighborhood...

some of my previous cars had it set were the cig lighter had to be put in and pushed in, a switch pressed and then it would crank

That would be a great one on my rig, that currently has 4 cig lighter ports in the front cab area. :haha:

I wouldn't use a cigarette lighter, even stupid crooks will try that.
Just my .02 cents

Come crocks with time will try anything....

Ive heard they even cause a short on a light on purpose so some car alamrs get burned (the old ones)

All the dizzy kill switches are kinda dumb if you have hei and a carb, all you need is a 5 foot wire, and an alligator clip. Clip one end on the battery and the other end on the dizzy, takes 1 minute and bam the truck will start if you pull the dipstick and jump the pos terminal and the s terminal on the starter, done it before on my old rig when the ignition switch froze. Even used tape on the dipstick so it wouldnt arc on the headers.

THATS how it worked on gone in 60 seconds......:haha:

This is from LoJacks website.

Does my car need to be running for LoJack to work?
No. The LoJack Unit constantly draws a very small amount of power from your vehicle's battery. Should your battery be disconnected, LoJack's backup battery will provide power.

Post up when/if you hear anything back. It has been about 3 years since he installed it. I may have a bad memory as he installs LJ for most of our company's fleet of construction rental equipment which is about 3000 new pieces of equipment per year in the Orange County area alone. His skills are fine but my brain is probably not quite right memory wise.

I will let you know when i hear back from them. I had mine installed mid last year. I did find on their website that if you have a dead battery or other electrical problems you should contact them BUT i'm thinking that is a concern of the LoJack having too large of a draw as their concern.

This is what I did after mine was stolen then recovered a few days later. Plus I added an ignition kill switch into the TuffyProducts center console that I installed.
